Johnny Carson will be always treasured and missed. I just wanted to salute this wonderful man who changed the face of television forever. May his family find some comfort in that this is a terrible loss to all of us. From his last "Tonight Show." quote: http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory?id=435893 Carpe' Diem |

I'm pretty sure that there are a lot of us here who stood, sat, laid in bed...ahem...while that blue light flickered and laughter hemmed the walls... RIP, Johnny... |

Truly. The man ad-libbed so many things that even today make me laugh on reflection. No more "Heeeere's Johnny!" Poets against the war is redundant |

I just read that Johnny is gone. ![]() My god, the memories of him I carry around, how he made me smile and laugh, how he helped carry away so much anger and grief with the flip of his pencil. |

I remember, as a kid, watching the final Tonight Show episode with Jack Parr and the first with Johnny Carson. I remember taking my wife (who thought Johnny was inordinately sexy) to see him in Vegas, circa 1978. And, of course, I remember watching his last show, after nearly a year of rumors about who his successor would be. He gave us a lot to remember. |

As a kid, I was a night owl and my parents used to let me stay up and watch the show with them. I used to love that. We were all fans through the years. As a matter of fact, and this is no kidding - before I even got a chance to see it, my dad taped over the last 1/3 of the only copy of my home wedding video ... with none other than ... Johnny Carson, rofl. ![]() |

He was truly one of the 'greats' in the entertainment industry. I got the biggest kick out of his 'animal' guests and his interaction with them, especially that baby chimpanzee (I think it was anyway) that I saw once that hugged him. So adorable! |

Excerpt from a dialog between Johnny and Jack Webb, Feb 19, 1968 The Copper Clapper Caper Carson: There's been a robbery. Webb: Yes sir, what was it? Carson: My clappers! Webb: Your Clappers? Carson: Yeah, you know, those things inside a bell that makes them clang. . . . Webb:Why do you think Cleveland's Claude Cooper would cop your clean copper clappers kept in your closet? . . . Carson: He's a kleptomaniac. . . . Webb: That figures. Now let me see if I got the facts straight here. Cleaning woman Clara Clifford discovered your clean copper clappers kept in a closet were copped by Claude Cooper the kleptomaniac from Cleveland. Now, is that about it? Carson: One more thing. Webb: What's that? Carson:If I ever catch kleptomaniac Claude Cooper from Cleveland who copped my clean copper clappers kept in the closet... Webb: Yes? Carson: I'll clobber him! ------------ One of a kind indeed. Parts sadly left out to avoid any copyright infringement issues. You can find it on the internet though. |
