Sy has been laid to rest in class, befitting the man we have known over the years. His life was recounted by the rabbi, including Sy's honors received serving his country in World War II, his painting expertise, his poetry accolades, his picture framing business and, most of all, his devotion to family and friends. The funeral was well-attended. Titia, you will be pleased to know that your collages had been printed out on photo paper and were on display for all to see.. As far as the floral arrangement, who says things always go as planned? I told the girl on the phone to sign the card Passions In Poetry and she kept saying "Passions AND Poetry?" to which I would say NO!..IN!! After 3 times of correcting her, she said "Oh, I understand...Passions IN Poetry, not AND." "YES!", I cried. "YES! You have it!" The floral arrangement arrived....signed Passions And Poetry. I tried.. The casket was covered with the U.S. flag and, at the appropriate time, honor guard members of the United States Air force folded the flag into a perfect triangle and presented it to Isabel as a bugler played Taps several feet away. The soldier thanked Isabel for Sy's service to his country and saluted her. She tried to salute back but used the wrong hand! (I told her she needs to work on that ) All in all, it was a beautiful ceremony for a beautiful soul. Isabel and Sy's family thanks the Pasisons In Poetry family for your kindnesses and friendship that you have shared with Sy for so many years. I spoke for all of us by saying that WE were the grateful ones for his presence. Day is done...but Sy will live in all of us who knew him and on these pages for many years to come. Godspeed, my friend.. [This message has been edited by Balladeer (01-27-2008 03:58 PM).] |

OK - I'm crying now.. Thank you, Mike, for representing us so well. Maybe we can get Ron to rename the site?.. Nah.. How about if as many of us would like gather round, and we do a tribute in PiPstyle? I'm going to search out a special archived poem written by Sy, and bring it forth for the day. Anyone who'd like to join in - By all means.. I'd love to see "Today's Topics" replete with Seymour Tabin's byline. God Bless.. |

Day is indeed done. Thank you for representing all of us who loved Sy. I have a feeling that someone was watching when Isabel did her salute and was having a darn good chuckle myself, or I wish to think that. I salute a true gentle man, teacher, and friend this day. |

Michael, thank you so much for representing us at Sy's service and for describing it all so vividly and beautifully. I know he would have gotten a chuckle out of the little fiasco regarding the flowers. You are very special and I am sorry for your personal loss of a good friend. God bless Seymour ~ and you. Passions & Poetry. Well, Sy was all that. Perhaps not a mistake at all. After all, the thought of it left us smiling, as I am sure I hear Sy chuckling. Thank you Mike, for bringing all of this back for us to be a part of it. |

Thank you, Mike... I'm so glad you were there... and I know Sy would have been grinning about the brick wall you hit with that card. *S* Day is done, yes... but he'll never leave our hearts. |

Dearest Michael, when I asked you to tell Isabel I was thinking of her, I never thought you would print those pictures and took them there. Thanks my dear friend, you have a big heart and it surely pleases me. Thank you, thank you. The flower lady probably never read a poem, otherwise she would've known that there is Passion IN Poetry. The blue pages proof it. Knuffels from this Dutchie Like scattered leaves...my words will flow |

How heartwarming it is to have privy to this celebration of life through you. These gestures are what make us all family here. May you find peace, remembering the joys of your friendship with Sy. God bless, Rae |
