Yikes! That's very sad. People aren't always what they seem to be. ~sky You look inside my wild mind |

that's tragic, and sad. however it does make me wonder about the attention span of the people who were supposed to be looking out for her. she was 13? and it's ok for her to go off alone to meet someone she knows from the internet? i don't know, and won't try to guess, what led up to that, but if her friends knew about this guy in advance it seems strange that her family didn't. -Dave |

and a second thought - i wonder at the focus of her appearance? why is that even a moot point... |

and on a somewhat more note, if you make the assumption that the girl actually looked like that picture, rather than being cursed like so many of us with non-photogenic looks, it makes you wonder precisely how the newsies define the word "pretty." but i actually agree with Christopher here (pauses for gasps of shock) that her appearance is totally irrelevant, both to the magnitude of the crime, and to the situation surrounding it. however, it was the first thing noted by the reporters: the VERY FIRST SENTENCE of the news report makes a point of describing her as "pretty." why? is that so very important? and if so, again, why? it doesn't make her guardian more observant, and it doesn't make the crime less committed. it truly makes me wonder why we bother listening to the news. -Dave |

I think the very fact that she was 13 and this happened is the crux of the story..looks aside, it could happen to anyone. I just want our members here to be VERY careful. When I saw the headline, I actually prayed that it wasn't someone I knew from here.... |

But lo! and behold! it turns out that there's more to this than we thought! instead of being someone who was tragically victimized, this girl has done this before - in fact apparently made it a habit to meet strange men online and have sex with them. hmmmmmm. now THAT makes you wonder what else there is we don't know about it. -Dave |

this story made me laugh...not cuz im a sadistic creep, but cuz of its incredulous "soap-opera" style. it all sounds really too superficial to be shocking. not just the good looks (which really doesnt have ANYTHING to do with the news) but the whole she was a "cheerleader" and "popular" line. oh well...thats tabloid news for ya..you pay for the tales not the news. could the darkness be my friend? |
