Nope, I didn't see it but I want to. I know 2 people that have though. One told me to rob a gas station if I had too and go see it (LOL he liked it just a little). The other person liked it as well, but wasn't quite as enthusiastic *chuckles* Tara |

I think the better question would be has anyone seen the records it set? Bloody $114 million, $44.3 million on Saturday alone, both records. To answer your question, no, not yet. Hopefully, eventually. Sincerely, Titus Every second that passes you are one second older. You'll never get that second back. |

I haven't seen it and probably won't until it hits plastic. I did see the trailers, though. I hope the story is good, because some of the special effects looked really hokey. The CGI in Final Fantasy looked much more realistic than the few action takes I saw. The transitions between CGI and the live actors were pretty impressive, though. It sure looks like they messed up the Green Goblin. |

I loved it! I may see it again this summer. The first hour, when Peter Parker is bitten by the spider and discovers his powers is excellent. When he starts 'saving the world' it gets a bit hokey, but you forgive it for the acting between the 'hoke'. Toby Maguire is a wonderful actor (and has great eyes!). Ron, if I was there, I'd drive over and take you to Kalamazoo to see the movie!! I'd even spring for Coke and Popcorn!! |

i have not yet seen it - that will be later this week - and as such i am reserving judgment BUT - it was directed by Sam Raimi, who at the very least can brag that he really is a Spider-Man fan - he has one of the biggest collections of Spidey comics anywhere, and frequently appears at interviews with the latest issue. Maybe it isn't any good, but THIS time i think it's safe to say that it wasn't through lack of trying *coffcoffTomb Raidercoffhack* -Dave |

saw it. thought it rocked. they kept AMAZINGLY close to the original story (due to Stan Lee being part of the production team i would imagine) with two relatively minor exceptions. i didn't care for the green goblin myself, though i can see why they wanted to play with the image - to bring it to a more 'modern' stage presence (uhm, which i think failed, but hey). as to the graphics, i think they worked out fairly well. at the root of it, this is a comic book adaptation, and i think part of the intent was to keep that 'surrealism' alive. there were some humourous portions of the movie (especially if you spent a good portion of your childhood reading spiderman comics) and i think they did a good job blending in a little of the darkness that is Peter Parker's life. yeah, i do think it could have been a little better in some places, but it is a LOT better than i thought it was going to be. i'm definitely looking forward to the next two that both Toby and Kirsten have already signed up for! I give the movie Spiderman my Chris |

LOL @ Chris's adjective dropping. Today seems to be my day for trivia. Did you know there is a specific reason he's known as The Amazing Spiderman? Anyone here old enough to remember why? |

heh. if you're referring to his 'first' employment as a costumed figure Ron, that's in the movie too. (i have several BOXES of comic books in my closet(was my passion when i was younger) one is comprised entirely of superman comics, two are various others, and the final one... yup, spidey.) |

I saw, and I was not impressed. Granted it as based on a comic book, but it was a lot longer than a comic book, so they should have made the plot a little....."not comic booky." just my opinion....Im very critical though ~Lisa |

I saw the film (first time to the big screen in over two years), but thought the exact opposite. I thought they tried too hard to capture the complexity of comic books (the Green Goblin arc). Movies just don't have the time to capture the complexity and impact of what was done over the course of years. Still, I enjoyed it. |

Nope, Chris, that's not where the Amazing superlative originated. In 1960 I was ten years old, and DC pretty much owned the super-hero business. Marvel produced monster comics and only a limited number of those. Then came The Fantastic Four (I bought it for ten cents), quickly followed by The Incredible Hulk (didn't buy that one), the first two new comics in a long time. And the last. They were the last new titles for a while because Marvel was contractually limited to eight comics a month by their distributor - which, uh, happened to be DC comics. All of the new super-heroes that appeared when I was twelve years old - Thor, Iron Man, Ant Man and Wasp, Dr. Strange, Captain America, and of course, Spider-Man - all first appeared in the monster comics already being put out by Marvel. My allowance was stretched pretty thin that year. Oh, and the name of the monster comic where Spidey first appeared was … |

Careful there, Brad … A while back, I rented a flick at the local market, along with a few groceries. As the clerk was running the bar codes through, she and the bagger started talking about my movie. I mean, like I wasn't even there. The invisible customer! Sure enough, before I could open my mouth, I knew enough about the ending to spoil the whole movie. So please, Brad, be very careful there …. |

Had. When you become an adult, you put aside childish things. And then kick yourself for the next forty years. In 1976, I wrote an article for Parent's Magazine about comics and the research I did renewed my interest for several years. Not to make the same mistake again, I stuck that collection in plastic trash bags and packed them in boxes. Gee, I just realized some of those would be over 25 years old? Still, it sure wouldn't be anything like the one I had as a kid. The funny thing is, I don't actually remember ever getting rid of that earlier collection. I had it when I got married. But somewhere between having a kid and playing Marine Corps, it got lost. |

No I haven't and I won't see it until it comes on HBO or maybe I'll end up renting it. I am not into these hollywood-shake-your-money-maker films ~ Hey, have you purchased the new spidey toy at your local Wal-Mart? Or did you collect all 6 action figures from Burger King? I recently went to see the small budgeted film, Frailty ~ now that was most excellent, indeed. |

I can't wait to see it! I'm such a movie snob - but not in the "traditional" sense? There's the movies I want to see, and everything else...pretty much doesn't exist. Why on earth would I pay money to see some yawner artsey-fartsey movie, when I can see a hundred of them on Lifetime running every weekend? No thanks. I'll stick to cool graphics and sensless action any day. (not to say that Spiderman has sensless action, mind you...haven't seen it yet, wouldn't know.) |

I don't follow the 'Hollywood Machine' either but sometimes a good movie is put out that is also hyped to the max. The last Star Wars movie sucked swamp water but I saw it. I'm hesitant about this next one though...I may wait a couple of weeks to see it. I also like independent movies - let's face it, I'm a movie buff. Since the indie films are not shown but in special theaters across town, I sometimes don't see them until they come out on video. And a lot of times I'll go see a movie because of the actor/actress in it. I'd watch anything with Colin Firth!! |

"I don't follow the 'Hollywood Machine' either but sometimes a good movie is put out that is also hyped to the max." - agreed, Titanic may fall into the category. "The last Star Wars movie sucked swamp water but I saw it. I'm hesitant about this next one though...I may wait a couple of weeks to see it." - Agreed, again. "And a lot of times I'll go see a movie because of the actor/actress in it." - and again |

"...the last Star Wars sucked swamp water..." HERESY!!! get the behind me oh foul creature!!! *feeling faint* it didn't suck... think along these lines: either George Lucas is truly the connsumate storyteller or he's damn good at reverse justification. he's taken a storyline that's 25 years old and BEGUN it. that is boggling in and of itself. personally, i wonder how - if everyone truly thought Episode One sucked - it made so much MONEY IN THE BOX OFFICE! And i'll bet ya Episode 2 will make even more. (Jar-Jar was evil though. irritated me to no end.) |

oh - and the second one will be much better, i'll betcha my bottom dollar. (i know this has nothing to do with star wars, but i have to defend!) we're getting into Anakin's adult life now, and rolling toward the events that led to the downfall of the republic. i thnk it will be (like empire strikes back) much darker and much more action filled. also, like empire, we'll see the romance develop that led to Luke and Leia! so excited! |

my problem with the Star Wars series in its entirety is this: when episode 4 first came out, it was a movie for adults. it was "Space Opera," granted, but still an adult movie. Empire Strikes Back even more so. Return of the Jedi was still adult, but had far more elements designed to appeal to younger audiences. Ewoks, anyone? then admidst much hype surrounding Episode one, the original trilogy was re-released - with "added footage," ALL of which was aimed at children. then episode one came out - and Jar Jar Binks, although stupid and evil, was in practically every scene in the movie - and most of the scenes which did NOT involve that idiocy had some other element designed to appeal to children. now episode 2 is coming out - and despite the storm of "i hate jar jar" mail that he got, George Lucas proudly announced that jar jar would be in this movie, as well. practically every trailer i have seen for it aims it squarely at early teenagers, and leaves virtually no impression of adult-oriented content at all. the series has gotten away from the ideas that started it, and become a money machine - one designed to lure in children, without regard for the adults who grew up having enjoyed the ORIGINAL purpose of the series. i proudly own a pre-rerelease version of the entire trilogy, and when i have the chance will transfer it over to dvd - since george lucas will never again attempt to restore the original without the "improvements" he made the second time around. i treasure, and deeply enjoy, the originals, but the new movies don't even rate a rental for me. i watched episode one, and lost faith in the new movies. the old series will always be with me, but george lucas does not deserve my money anymore. -Dave |

I love Spiderman, the original you know...so naturaly I was overly eager to go see the movie, that is until I found that Toby Maguire was to be the lead actor as none other than Spiderman himself! I thought, "Man was a dissappointment!" but I was wrong, b/c Toby was better than good in it, not to mention sexy as ever! I highly reccomend this movie to any & everyone!! ~Rayne The strands in your eyes |

We saw it tonight ... I thought it was rather shallow, but I agree with Ron that movies don't have the time to deal with all of the intricacies that keep comic-book fans buying the next issue, and the next ... introspection on film is -- well, boring -- but it is a vital part of a good (comic) book. Overall, it wasn't bad, and I was hardly disappointed walking out of the theatre -- but it wasn't a "wow" movie either. No Fellowship was this ... The Goblin reminded me of Alien. I kept expecting Sigourney Weaver to step out with her chest bursting open at any moment. The dude that played him was convicingly freaky though. Those teeth -- they had to be fake, right? The wrestling match scene was priceless. His mask looked like red underwear turned sideways. I also appreciated the fact that MJ wasn't an impossibly beautiful bombshell -- she was literally a "girl next door," albeit one who was into heavy makeup. Parker was the most convincing. He was the nerd-turned-superhero that he was *supposed* to be. Stan Lee could make a soap opera seem good. ~moi |

Star Wars Episode 1: The Faulty Merchandise Star Wars Episode 2: The Merchandise Wars Star Wars Episode 3: The Final Cash-In? Well I must say that Episode 2 was the most boring film I have ever seen, At one point I counted the audience (which was unusually small I might add) and then I fell asleep. Now don't get me wrong I quite like Star Wars Episodes 4-6 but Episode 1 (which I haven't seen fully) and Episode 2 are trashy cash in movies, hopefully Mr Lucas will have made enough money by the time Episdode 3 is made or I will boycott it, because I am not wasting another two hours of my life counting peoples heads.
