I have quite a few ways to finish the sentence...

Poetry should be...
...in everyones life.
...from the heart.
...shared.
...taught more in schools (poetry was never a real big thing in school, at least not in my school)
...encouraged.
...felt.

... spark your imagination
... touch your heart
... comfort your soul
... tickle your funny bone
... bring you to tears
... get a reaction (good or bad)

and most importantly...

... should be attempted by everyone at least once in their life (You non-poetic folk just don't know what you're missing! )

I like Interloper's response... Hmm...

Poetry should... change people.

There. That's my answer. Bye all!

Christopher,

That stuff you are reading on gas station walls does not count as poetry. No wonder you are nauseated....
(although I have to admit that I have seen a few witty ditties over the years...)

Poetry should change, and yet remain the same. Poetry should change people and thus cause change in the world.

But mostly poetry should keep the writer sane.

K, methinks that those arrows might need to be pointed a little higher. . .

And, would someone please get Christopher and Beth something to not make them gag so much??  They're leaving trails all over. . .

K: per established precedent -
(see  /pip/Forum29/HTML/000916.html#24    and  /pip/Forum29/HTML/000916-2.html )

plus 2 for nausea inducing content

I don't get plussed here.

I was deliberately being nauseous, and I said gag myself. You can't plus me so there.

Go away.

YOU CANNOT PLUS FOR NAUSEATING CONTENT!!! If you people don't stop I'm revoking you're plussing privileges... you're getting just as bad as the "Plus fifteen!" people...

sigh... and K, could you repeat that part about the soft, yielding bosoms again? It was getting me hot...
