Just had to share a new CD, course it depends on the style of music you like, but this, I think is excellent. Kind of in the rock alternative style, the first 4 songs on it are SO GOOD. Band is a new one, THE CALLING, the CD is Camino Palmero They are ridiculously young to have such insight into these love and loss feelings. But they are fantastic. P.S. One of their songs is playing on the trailer to Kate and Leopold, a movie coming out the end of the month, which I cannot wait to see. Cat...I got that a couple weeks ago and it is great...they are getting a lot of attention now...the DJ here said they were being mistaken for Creed at first but now people are catching on. Another good one is Nickleback's new one...but its a bit "harder/heavier" music than the single thats getting all the air play. Its always cool that we can go listen to samples on-line before we buy. For any Matchbox20 fans...there is a new release out from Rob's first band "Tabitha's Secret"...its been tied up in law suits since before MB20 was formed and now the suit has been settled and the studio recorded self titled album is out. It has an acoustic version of 3am on it as that was originally that bands first hit. Its hard to find and I had to order it from Borders but it is out now for those who want more of Rob...he is singing lead in the songs...and he wrote the lyrics. All I want for Xmas is new tunes (and a new puter with a burner) LOL...that aint gonna happen Its not like you to say sorry, |

Janet I love that Nickelback song. I listen to two songs on that CD a lot, the others are a bit hard for me. I agree that Calling sounds a lot like Creed, The lead singers voice and Pearl Jams' Eddie Vedder have a lot of simiarities also. Another good one, completely different style, but with many good tracks, is Shakiras' first English recording. I have one of her spanish ones also. She is amazing. And so young too. What is it, everyone talented lately is 17-20. Sheesh, I feel old. [This message has been edited by catalinamoon (edited 12-12-2001).] |

Sandra... "What is it, everyone talented lately is 17-20. Sheesh, I feel old"... This is not the way I would see it... People wish to discover young talent, because it is one huge point for marketing their products... just like you mention... they are "ridiculously young to..." you see what I mean... And of course like everything else, occasionally, some bands have oodles of talent... and for history's sake... lots of famous bands became successful at a young age... Remember "The Beatles"... to me their popularity is a major fad... but they have a few good songs as well... well, I haven't listened to "THE CALLING", but, if I get my hands on it, I will, since it is now a recommended band but age doesn't determine talent... but it usually helps in early success... and please be forever young... Regards, Sudhir P.S. I am always talking too much these days... [This message has been edited by Sudhir Iyer (edited 12-12-2001).] |
