*my brother sent this to me......I laughed so hard...I relate to every single one of these.... and I'd like everyone who relates to add one of their own please.....it's fun...remember when......then share...... -You know what "Psych" means. -You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, Wax off." -You know that another name for a keyboard is a "Synthesizer." -You can sing the McDonald's Big Mack,Filet-o-fish, quarter pounder, and French fry song. -You know who Mr. T is. -You know who Fat Albert is. And who was old boy with the pink mask? -You could breakdance, or wish you could. -You Believed that "By the power of Greyskull, you HAD the power. -Partying "like it's 1999" seemed SO far away. -You thought that Transformers were "more than meets the eye". -You wanted to be on Star Search. -You can remember Michael Jackson when he was black. -You remember the garbage pail kids, and owned some. -You knew what Willis was "talkin' 'bout." -Rut row raggy. and Zoinks. -You HAD to have your MTV. -You actually thought "Dirty Dancing" was a REALLY good movie. -You remember when ATARI was a state of the art video game. -You owned any cassettes. -You were led to believe that in the year 2000 we'd all be living in space. -You know what leg warmers are and probably had a pair. -Your Legos collection started with the free sets in a Happy Meal. -You remember when Happy Meals came in a box, not a paper bag. -You remember when Saturday Night Live was funny. -You had Wonder Woman or Superman underoos. -You know what a "Push Up" ice cream is. -You had to come in the house when the street lights came on. -You had to change into play clothes after school. -You owned, or knew somebody with a Commodore 64. -You hated Scrappy Doo. -You recorded songs off the radio with your boom box. -You wished you had a light saber. -Somehow you still know all the words to songs played on VH1's "Big 80s" -Your arm was full of rubber bracelets. -You have ever said, "Gag me with a spoon." -You have ever wondered what happened to Saturday morning cartoons. -You had to get up to change the channel, or had one of those noisey "clicky boxes". -You can still sing 1 to 12 from the Pinball machine song on Sesame Street. -You thought the Thriller video was pretty cool. -You remember the first time you went in to a video store to rent a movie. -Canadians watched...Romper-Room, Mr. Dress-up, and the Friendly Giant - remember the teeny weeny furniture you wished you had?! -You wore those wide, colorfull shoelaces. -Quiet Riot's "Come on feel the noise" was the best song - ever. -You know where "I want my two dollars" came from. -You still cannot go in to the water because of that damn movie Jaws. -El Debarge's "Feel the beat to the Rhythm of the night" plagued the radio every hour. -You remember life before minivans and SUVs. -Cars...Gremlins were cool - Pacers were not! If you can identify with at least half of this list then you, my friend, are a "Child of the 80s". [This message has been edited by SEA (edited 06-08-2001).] |

When everyone traded slap bracelets and friendship bracelets, when socks HAD to match the top, when wearing underwear on the outside of your clothes was cool, and those little funky lace gloves were so cute and Madonna and Cindy Lauper sang "girl songs" and Electric Youth was like the best perfume on the market. How can you save me? |

I guess I can add a few. -You can remember your parent's throwing out their eight tracks. -You can name all of the GI Joes -You know that Shera was Heman's cousin. -You remember logging on the net at 1200bps -20 megs of hard drive space was all you would ever need -Your sister had your parents make you play Barbie with her and there was only Barbie and Ken. That is all I can remember right now. The White Wolf If life is just a game, when does it end cause I want to get to what is real. |

Heh...Sven, compared to the 70's, any decade would be the greatest ever. LOL The 70's...the ugliest decade ever to be perpetrated upon the fashion history of mankind. Oh...a few more 80's things: You knew what layering meant. You wanted Kit in your car. White sport blazers with too short sleeves were cool. Alicat |

Okay, at 25, I don't think I fit into that "Child of the 80's" description, but all or most of these above do apply in some way or another in my memory. Does anyone remember Charmkins, Strawberry Shortcake Dolls, My Little Pony, Charm Necklaces (the plastic chain with all the little key chain looking things that you could attach and wear)...hmmm...I could go on and on! LOL! |

On the one hand, I think the Fifties were the best decade of all because life was so much simpler. Except for finding a bomb shelter (we all knew the Russkies would drop the big one any day), there weren't a lot of worries. On the other hand, I think the Sixties were better - because life was anything BUT simple. The Rise and Fall of the Kennedy Dynasty, Civil Rights, Vietnam, the Sexual Revolution, the Space Race, Kent State, Woodstock - the list just goes on and on. If that decade wasn't the best, it surely qualifies as the most memorable. The Seventies are just a blur… |

Hilarious. I know most of these though I grew up in the late 60's/early 70's. Now here I have to dispute the above comments. The 70's were great. And not all of the clothes were so bad. In fact, some of us were kinda stylish Mini Skirts, danskin leotards for tops for dancing, wrap around danskin skirts, high heels, hey I was so cool.. The 70's music, I know I will have a fight here, but I really had fun with disco. And if anyone listens to techno and new dance music, it is so similar. Quit that laughing now!! |

I loved scrappy doo, mullets were cool it was ok to wear white socks television shows were better pop music was better (britney and the rest could learn a thing or two from Kim Wilde, Belina Caraline and all the other 80's pop stars R.E.M were still an underground band. Peter Gabriel's video "sledge hammer" was amazing "Build a man a fire, he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life". Terry Pratchett |
