The holidays are nearly here and I'm working on my gift list. So, I'd like to know what YOU would like. My budget is small so let's set a $50.00 limit. The gift must be REAL (save world peace for the Miss America Contest) and something I could ship to you if I had to......what I really want to know is "what gift could I give you that you would treasure"...(please be serious)

I would like something that came from your heart. I dont know what but something that would be to me personally. Like a poem made specially for me in a pretty frame.

What would YOU like PoetdeVine???

Sharon, What I "want" money can not buy (sigh)

But since you said it has to be real and less than $50.... I would have to say I want to finally see Voices On The Web on the shelves at my local bookstore   LOL

You guys aren't playing fair!!! I said REAL. How do you know I haven't made a deal with all your loved ones to find out what you really want this year!!

ERIN - send me your address and your poem of choice and it's YOURS!!

serenity - c'mon, surely there must be something tangible you want!

Jeffrey - we're trying!!!

Nan - yeah but if I could get that for you I might just keep THAT gift for myself! LOL

Ok. . . something real. . .

A book of poetry from a poet that inspired you to write.

Autographed by you.

How's that???

I'd like some funny stickers......phrases that have a lot to do with me and i'd be able to put it on my poetry binder.
For ex:

One says: "When I grow up I want to be like me"

hehe

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

I hate your socks. I'd like to burn them!

Personally, I would love a date, time and place for our next Passions get-together ...

... so that we could all take a picture together and make copies as gifts for any of us that wanted one!

I may not be the most amiable among us, but I do value this community of poets for the vital service that it provides to its members.  Of many, Passions has made one -- at least in the realm of poetic expression and, I would hope, fellowship.

... besides, I would really enjoy the opportunity to argue with a few of you in person, for a change ... LOL

I got the best Christmas present anyone could ask for - way back in May     and it's worth far more than 50 bucks methinks...

But if you'd just keep writing, Sharon, there's nothing more I'd ever ask of you.

I love the fact that you are spreding holiday cheer though.  That is a gift in itself.

Well, I was raised poor, but that was OK..helped me learn about the free things in life, like blackberries, fishing (didn't even know what a game warden looked like), and camping, to name a few, as well as swimming in the creek. Now that I'm older, well, I'm still poor by societal standards, earning well below the poverty line, but that's OK too. I've learned budgeting, and the enjoyment of the simple things in life, like sunsets, flowers, walks, and friendship. So really, I have no want of anything, though it would be nice for Voices on the Web to come out, so that I can send some copies out to be signed.

Tell ya what Sharon. How about a simple birthday greeting. It's free, and brings more joy than much else can. And no worries, for mine ain't for another few weeks.

Hmmm... hard question. I guess the best thing you could get me is the Random House of Treasured Love Poetry (second edition, I already have the first!). I live 1 1/2 hours from the nearest bookstore, so books of any kind are on the top of my wish list.

Possibly the second one in 'The Liveship Traders' Trilogy by Robin Hobb.

Yup - that'll do me...

That's real right hon?

serenity. . . she said something real. . . I don't believe that a portrait of Sharon really exists. . . she's just a figment of our imaginations. . .

You know. . . I've heard that she's really a sub-program of Ceres that Ron created in an experiment for the government. . .

Ok...I've given this some thought, and
there really isn't much that I 'want'...
well, at least not that $50 can buy..lol.
If you really wanted to do something, then
I think the nicest gift you could give me
is to make a donation, in my name, to my
favorite charity...'The Make-A-Wish Foundation".
They give smiles to so many children everyday.
Beyond that, your friendship is gift
enough for me..

Of course...a pic of you, or a hand-written
copy of your favorite of your poems would
be nice too.

Thanks for asking..

Now...what would you wish for?

another PIP poet recently had a vanity publisher print up copies of her poems - if you should ever elect the same path - I'd love a copy = barring that - a picture - as others have suggested - would be very nice - - last but not least - an autographed poem of yours that I praised

I would say a hand written version of your favorite poem (written by you) that was signed and dated would be awesome, but of course that's pricesless  , so maybe The Beatles white album on cd?   ....And what is it that you would like?!?< !signature-->

How bout a ticket so I could go with Maree to a Natalie Merchant concert?    And methinks a poem written for me and framed would be awesome too!

Poet deVine...I can think of nothing I want for Christmas as all needs are taken care of and wants are so nebulous. For 50.00 you could make a donation to any homeless shelter (your choice) in my name or to any shelter for battered women and children. Been there, done that, and got some scars to prove it. That, my wonderful lady, would be most awesome. Have a Merry Christmas and an exceptional New Year.

from my front walk and into bed,
where it kisses my face and eats my head. Shivaree

A single volume version of the Lord of the Rings with a personal note from you would be a grand gift, but I also really like the idea of a framed, signed and hand written piece of deVine poetry... What would you like Sharon?

a good instructional book that will teach me to write good poetry at long last....

though i ditto the rest...a handwritten copy of your favourite personal poem(with explanation why it means so much to you) sounds like a wonderful idea....

what will you like in return then?

*sigh

I was trying to find out what you all wanted for Christmas..not just from me..but from anyone..guess I was trying too hard to be specific.

kaile: 'Creating Poetry' by John Drury (it's not that expensive - you can order it from Amazon too!)

As for me, I've been thinking about this as I read your replies. I honestly can't think of a thing I want..I am trying not to be a collector of 'things' anymore. Though a book is never considered amiss in this house. There hasn't been a Christmas in the last 20 years when someone wasn't getting a book or a gift certificate to a book store!!!

So is there anything you need this year?

OH yes...NEED - a different story.

I lost my watch two weeks ago - but was silly enough to replace it a couple of days ago...I SHOULD HAVE WAITED ~groan~ lol...

actually - this may sound full of gravity, but it is what I need.

I need accomodation so I can go stay with my Mum for christmas. If I had a certain refund, I could afford it myself...but now I need accomodation to stay there. (You know that as she is in that complex place I can't actually stay there with her.)

So - currently, I am spending christmas with friends - and that is really cool, but ideally, I would like to be with my mother.

i think i would prefer my $50 to come in the form of daisies. white ones. that could almost fill a room, or at least annoy my roommates by taking up the whole table. i love daisies. the best dream i ever had was about daisies. i dreamed i woke up and my nameless lover had sprinkled white and yellow dsies in a swirl pattern all around my room. it was such a happy dream. i love daisies. *sigh*
