I was just looking at the replies to one of my poems and these are the places where people were replying from: France Tenerife - which I had to look up! India South Africa I am from a town of 2000, my graduating class had 36 people in it. Though I wouldn't call myself "sheltered" in anyway, I still thought "how very cool" - It reminded me of the day that I brought my children to the mall and they were playing on the play jungle. I work in a town with a large university so the diversity here is much greater than where I am from. My kids were with playing with African American children, Asian children, children from the Middle East.... It struck me how lucky they were to be able to experience that and how small the world is getting. We all may be going through growing pains, trying to understand different cultures and races, but seeing my kids play that day, gave me hope! Deb |

How right you are, in that diversity can bring about such wonderful understanding if we come together and get to know one another. Let's hope that your children will always retain the friendships of their youth. |
