Those who watch football probably know the Super Bowl is being held this year in Detroit, Michigan. BUT, it is being internationally co-hosted by the Canadian city in which I live, right across the border. So...what is my concern? We have put out best foot forward, lined up all kinds of events for people coming here for the game and Super Bowl parties, tail gate party.. have tons of entertainment, including lots of things for the kids..with really cool snow shoe demonstrations, ice sculptures, the Clydesdale horses etc. In other words plenty of events for those seeking to see what a cold Canadian winter looks and feels like. One problem? No snow!!!! Tell ya what..come to the Super Bowl anyway. And, if anyone from PiP is on their way, or already here, you had better let me know so I can meet you! Feel free to drop me an email. Or...does anyone care about the Super Bowl anyway? Nancy~The official events worrier of the 40th Super Bowl. |

Tinker this is the first international celebration of the largest sporting event in the world. And I'm sure the superbowl events on both side of the Windsor\Detroit border will well attended. believe in what your heart feels... |

Martie, my door is open for you any time! I'm sure we'll have a great turnout, most of the hotels are booked up for miles around. Just hoping some Pipsters are headed to the game... or at least into town so I can meet them. |

The male-oriented portion of my family is crazy about the "giant dish," but I don't like it at all. I don't understand football. I'm so unAmerican. |

Does anyone care about the Super Bowl?? Would a cow lick Lot's wife? Is a frog waterproof? Is Toerag from Uranus? |

What a neat invitation, NancyLee! Very kind and generous of you to open your home to the whole PiP crowd, Super Bowlers or not! In the middle of Kansas, it seems everyone is some kind of sports fanatic - except me! LOL... But I'll hope for snow! |

I couldn't help but laugh at your weather predicaments, Enchanted One... not after hearing yesterday that the Azalea Society here is putting ice on the ground around their azaleas... hoping to hold off the blooming until the March festival!!! LOL We've been having such unseasonably warm weather, the shrubs think it's spring! *S* A long time ago in a lifetime far, far away, I breezed through your fair city (literally... the winds were such that the tent blew away as soon as it was unoccupied... it was a great chase to snag it before it landed in the lake! LOL) If such an opportunity ever comes my way again, I'll meet you in a heartbeat... 'kay? *S* |

Yup..the one with the pointed ends.. also known as the pigskin, I believe. Now I was down in the heart of the city today wandering around watching them set up the warming tents, beer tents, entertainment tents..and no, this is not all taking place in tents folks. You could actually feel the excitement building. MAGIC happened today!!! SNOW is now in the forecast!! YES!! YES!! That means all you southern pipsters who attend will indeed be able to feel what a real Canadian winter is like! In fact, here is the official Super Bowl Sunday forecast. "Super Bowl Sunday! Breezy, mostly cloudy with snow showers. High in the upper 20s, with the wind making it feel like 15 to 20 degrees." Of course if you don't like the cold and snow by the time we take in the sights and sounds in the heart of downtown.. everyone will be welcomed back to my place for a real Super Bowl Poetry Party. Some of you are coming, eh? |

Anyone else headed this way for the Super Bowl please use the email icon and email me. Rather not give my address out here Scorpio. Everything goes into full swing today. YAY!! I think I'm headed out celebrity spotting later. I would advise anyone coming to Canada from the U.S. make sure you have the proper identification at the border crossing. Security is obviously very tight. |

I knew I was the self appointed official special events worrier for a reason!! UPDATE ON THE SNOW! A Winter Storm Warning goes into effect this afternoon with 6-8 inches expected by tomorrow morning. Just in time for the best Super Bowl yet!! AND we have THE STONES at half time! Who could ask for more? And I didn't even use my magic wand. |

LOL, we don't have a lot of snow where I live either, and I'm from Minnesota. I had to work yesterday (the day of the Super Bowl) so not only did I not see the game, I wasn't in Detroit watching it either. Maybe someday when I'm rich I'll see it in person--although if I eved DO get rich, I'd rather do something worthwhile with my time (give to charities, quit my job and focus more on my family, friends, and writing, or meet the members of PiP!). So did anyone from here come knocking at your door, Nancy? Hope you had a great Super Bowl Sunday, and that there was enough snow! ~sky I hope someday you get the chance to live like you were dying.... ~Tim McGraw |
