File this under "Gawd-I-wish-I'd-written-this"-- http://www.nola.com/living/t-p/index.ssf?/base/living-5/1130652921241070.xml Chris Rose, one of my all time favorite local writers has done it again! Between the lines of this poem he conveys the general love/hate relationship N'awlins natives feel for their town. Enjoy. And for those who missed the first offering, you can find the link to the explanation of Uptown Refrigerator Wars here: /pip/Forum29/HTML/001983.html |

Wow. That's an awesome piece of writing Karen. Says it all I reckon. Really....does it still smell like rotting meat in parts of your once beautiful and soul-filled New Orleans? No, no, this cannot and should not be. hugging you, Chrislane |

In some places, yes--it still stinks, but not as bad as the daily local news. Chris Rose is just voicing the frustration for us all here, Chris. |

3 weeks ago I took my brother to his place in Marrero, just couldn't convince him to stay in Texas. We saw a pickup truck full of "Old" refrigerators. They were all taped shut and had that, you don't want to open look. All I could do was laugh and wonder who was tired of waiting for help and decided to clean up their own neighborhood. |

lol, K, and I DID read that story! then had a laugh remembering the old fridge I had to tape shut in Fox, Alaska when the previous tenant moved out over two months before I moved into the 9x12 foot cabin. Never mind that the fridge was OUTSIDE the dinky cabin anyway, not inside, and it was SUMMERTIME in the 'Interior' on my sister's small family-size 5 acre pig farm...complete with ducks, chickens, dogs, cats, a turkey or two and yes, mucho plenty piles of manure and humongous flies...yes, even in Alaska!!!! yep, I do understand the taped-up-fridge thingie the only thing that amazes me is that those fridge walls don't dissolve.... |

I just think Chris Rose is a riot. I read him religiously, and we seem to find the same things funny. Sometimes I just go "hmmmmm...my Dad was in the Navy..." Nod. It could be. |

Sunday, November 06, 2005 Chris Rose Oh man I just loved this story of a couple and their insurance claim. Hope you can read it with the link above. If not, go to Nola.com, give them a zip, and then find under entertainment, Chris Rose. This guy just cracks me up. |
