You know, now that Susan mentioned her Mom I thought about my Gramma Actually back in those days large families were the norm come to think of it weren't they? My Gramma was one of 14, and my Grampa was one of 12. Yet my grandparents children mostly had single child families (me being one,) and the odd one had two children. In those days they had less to work with, less money, and it worked. Now there is hardly time to get our two to all the classes they take, and I can't imagine a schedule of having to drive 17 to sports, school, etc. eek! This woman deserves every single award she can get. |

After the 16th child I would have told him to stay the hell away from me. LOL I also would have gotten my tubes tied. Poetry is beauty in words. |

My grandmother's neighbors had 15 children, and had two more still-births. It was great to go visit Grammie, because there was always someone to hang out with, no matter what our age... It's the strangest thing - I can still name them all... Jean, Norman, Cecile, Ron, Janice, Bob, Anne, Carl, Marie, Christine, Claire, Susie, Terry, Peter and Rose... Only the last two were twins. Silly the things we remember, isn't it?.. |
