http://www.philosophersnet.com/games/god.htm See how you do on this quiz! I made it through with one hit. Be sure to think carefully about everything you answer. |

"You have been awarded the TPM service medal! This is our third highest award for outstanding service on the intellectual battleground." That was interesting, Brian....thanks! |

1 hit, 1 bullet, not bad uh? I suppose that means I'm still thinking straight? Interesting site! Thanks. |

That was enlightening. I miss philosophy and theology, my favorite courses. You took 1 direct hit and you bit 1 bullets. The average player of this activity to date takes 1.39 hits and bites 1.11 bullet. It was the Atheist and Loch Ness questions. It is all Logics' fault . . . *grin* |

Congratulations! You have been awarded the TPM medal of distinction! This is our second highest award for outstanding service on the intellectual battleground. The fact that you progressed through this activity being hit only once and biting no bullets suggests that your beliefs about God are well thought out and almost entirely internally consistent. |

but rational discourse ISN'T possible when it comes to religion! not sayin anything else except I had a good chuckle at God...S(HE) I take the USA 5th amendment (and any other number necessary) Maybe I should come back later and take this with both eyes open and my brain out of sleep mode. And this quiz just challenged me by hitting me! or was that a bullet? Either way, I am obviously mental.... oh serene one, am I playing with an upside down deck of cards??? or less than a full deck [This message has been edited by Midnitesun (08-22-2005 02:45 PM).] |

quote: I'm dubious of people who grant me awards based on faulty logic -- to wit: quote: Their own argument states that " the mere absence of evidence for the existence of God is enough to justify believing" -- believing -- faith... they lose the argument right there. I do not know is my response to the existence of God -- this is because there is insufficient data -- if it is insufficient it is also insufficient to disprove the existence of God. quote: God is either God or not. Rational discourse about that which is unknowable is not possible. These guys are hacks. Intelligent hacks -- but hacks. An interesting link though Brian. |

Oh, and, we can only say that it is improbable that intelligent life lives on Mars. |

Hey LR, You should email them. I didn't encounter those problems myself when doing the quiz, but I do agree that you're in the right. |

You answered "True" to Question 16. This answer generated the following response: You've just bitten a bullet! In saying that God has the freedom and power to do that which is logically impossible (like creating square circles), you are saying that any discussion of God and ultimate reality cannot be constrained by basic principles of rationality. This would seem to make rational discourse about God impossible. If rational discourse about God is impossible, there is nothing rational we can say about God and nothing rational we can say to support our belief or disbelief in God. To reject rational constraints on religious discourse in this fashion requires accepting that religious convictions, including your religious convictions, are beyond any debate or rational discussion. This is to bite a bullet. hehe, my first anwer stands...God talk just isn't rational in MHO but I can still give her a big hug and a thank you or a kick in the derriere when she needs it |

Well, I would Brian.. but I don't have the energy -- there are other things in life I desire to accomplish. I took one of their other quizzes -- the Philisophical Health Check... and confusion is quite apparent in how they even ask questions -- it's like they're in Freshman level studies or something. They either don't understand the difference between 'fact' and 'truth' or they're just looking to get readers who don't. There are just too many examples to cite. I doubt they have any real interest in Philosophy -- but are, as most people are, merely interested in THIER philosophy. |

Those are some pretty big questions to be expecting a one-word answer. "Question 6 Evolutionary theory maybe false in some matters of detail, but it is essentially true." Pretty big "details" if they're talking about macroevolution ... microevolution not so much, but they're not being specific on that count, so I'm answering a question based on a guess about what they mean by "evolutionary theory". "Question 9 Torturing innocent people is morally wrong." That was a toughie. Where's the "I'll get back to you" button?? I can see where this is going, though ... This little quiz is asking us to know the mind of God. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9, KJV Good enough for me ... heck, I have a hard time keeping my OWN thoughts straight half the time. Where God is concerned, faith > logic. |
