If I seem to be absent on Mondays, that is because it's documentary day on The Sundance Channel, and I am now a confirmed addict of their doc-day offerings.

I watched one this past monday, and discovered that women of western heritage can make a small fortune in Tokyo--just drinking and talking with Japanese businessmen.

And yep, just drinking and talking.

I coulda been rich!

Yet again, I am a victim of geography!

But it occurs to me now, that there are prolly many more jobs that exist that I don't even know about.

Anybody care to share some unusual employment opportunities? Serenity is seriously bored.

(And um, rather broke too.

)

and I have to ask wouldn't just talking to them bore you to tears?

as for the jobs...well, I am sure there are plenty I just don't know any..

I have often thought about college professor via the internet...how hard could that be?

I thought the same thing with the title LOL and I actually considered that ordained minister stint after reading Ivanya Van Zant
(something like that) and how about the mystery shopper?  I always wanted to see if that was a scam or not.  I mean people REALLY do that.

There are always game shows.  Have you seen the one now where all you have to do is get fired?

A tattoo apprentice, if you find the right artist who will not charge you for the apprentice. In a year you can make $70 - $200/hr.

At home word processing, I actually did that once and it took them a whole year to realize I wasnt working, I was chatting.

I actually got the minister credentials offered by ULC as a matter of necessity one day... the funniest thing was that they absolved my sins online. If they had only known what I had done the night before that I WASN'T sorry for!!! lol

One of the strangest jobs I have ever known anyone to do was the guy that sucks out what's been left behind in those little blue booths after the fair is gone out of town. I understand it is a needed job... I just don't think even *I* am strange enough to do that.

Here in Florida if you're a Notary Public you can marry people...not just get married I mean..but perform the ceremony. I'm thinking of doing it...just think of the poetic vows I could make the bride and groom recite.

Daughter did try the secret shopper thing. Money paid not good. Had to travel to a lot of different places. Not enough in one area to make it profitable. She had one restaurant to do one night. So she, her brother his daughter and I went out to dinner. I paid LOL. Daughter made $12.00 on the deal. LOL.. Best to go directly to a few large Dept. stores and restaurants and ask if they could use you.

Serenity: Mango Rash is a real thing. Husband had it, thought it was from medicines. I told him he had not had a change in meds. So off to doctor. I told hubby if he was too embarrassed to ask about the mango to say, "his wife suggested". Dr. called me in from waiting room. Indeed it was Mango that caused it. It is in the same family as poison ivy, Ginkgo and the oil under shell of pistachio nuts. As my husband had had a terrible bout of Poison Ivy as a kid, I guess he was susceptible. I on the other hand enjoyed mango. LOL

Poet Devine, Go for it.You would make a wonderful Bridal offciant! And you will be very helpful serving as a notary. Plus the few extra bucks you can pick up will be nice... late

Oh, Serenity I am the original odd job person.

1. Telephone book deliveries, took all the kids in a station wagon and we delivered!
2.  Ran an elevator in a business office. The old kind you had to level off and pull open  the  cage door.
3. School census taker.
4. sold Avon
5. Did Tupperware and jewelry demos in homes.
6. Home health aid
7. Security at building site. Lived in the trailer nights only and went home days. The best one of all. Earned $600. A month and was allowed to go off site to shop or attend a movie or go roller-skating. They just wanted someone there to deter trespassers. I picked up the bottles the  workers threw away and cashed them in at the local return machine Got enough for supper most nights.
A few others but  another time..lol  late

Sharon?  You would make a most enlightening minister.

Was a line cook, loved that.

I used to make chocolate, not kidding.  That was an awesome job.

Then mexican food, don't ask.

Then gardening for nuns.  (eeeeek)

Then the medical field (urology mwuahahahaha) and now IT.

The Tupperware and all reminded me about an old friend of mine who used to sell adult, marital aids at home parties... complete with games and stories, and well... any further and we move to Grok This...

Then I almost did.

Hostessing is huuuuge in Japan! I've actually been offered a job, but I said no. I've had some bad experiences with Japanese businessmen, and I didn't want to get into more strife. At least with the job I have, the vast majority of employees are native English speakers! It's also generally illegal from what I understand, because it's apparently not an appropriate job for a working visa!

All you would need is a crystal ball. Heck you can tell the same fortune, "You are about to lose money", then ask for $10 or more.

Actually I happen to have a few of those crystal balls, inot. But payment for spiritual advise goes against the tenants of the tradition in which I was initiated. (Combination of Gardnerian and Wagnerian Wicca)

Out of curiousity though, I did check into one of those psychic hotlines jobs. I was told that I would have to pay for a second phone line myself, and although the company that was offering me employment charged the public four dollars a minute for tarot readings, I would receive a cut of twenty five cents, nod, per minute.

I also told them that there are times, for whatever reason, I was not always successful with certain people--there are some people I simply can not "read".

I was told that was "fine"--that a script would be provided for such instances.

Um, lying also happens to be against the tenants of my spiritual beliefs as well, so I told them no thank you.

Oh, and at the time I was living in a city where such practices were against the law. (Gretna, La.)

As far as I know, it still is, too.

But I do thank you for your consideration.

Interestingly enough, Priestess Miriam of the New Orleans Voodoo temple may be moving her shop from the French Quarter to my part of the Greater New Orleans area, so something in that capacity just may be in my future.

I was going to ask to be the snake dancer for rituals in the Spanish Plaza, but was told it is unlikely that public ritual for tourist interest was unlikely any time soon.

Besides, sigh, I don't know if you have heard, but I lost my snake.

and *chuckle*
