Bear Bile Farming In China |

I saw a special on tv last night, and literally got sick to my stomach at the cruelty imposed on caged bears in China. Some live for 15+ years never being able to move much and grow up deformed. This was attributed to keeping these full-grown bears in small cages for the purposes of harvesting their bile on bear farms. I spent a long time today following up on this bear farming, because I had learned something new about this world that shocked me and had to understand and learn more about it. I did not agree or like it one bit, and wondered what could be done. I wish I had the answer but I don't, except donate to their cause, but I can sure help make people aware of it. When the masses know of a problem they can make positive changes through that knowledge and perhaps we can put an end to atrocious acts such as this one. One woman, Jill Robinson cared enough to take action, and here is her story. http://www.drmartinwilliams.com/jillbears/jillbears.html This CNN report shows that supposedly it is to be phased out in 15 years (that was in 2000) so I sincerely hope it is. http://edition.cnn.com/2000/ASIANOW/east/12/03/china.bear.farming/?related |

Thank you for this information, Sharon. I have grown quite fond of bears since we had a bear visitor in our trash can recently. I somehow connected to this huge furry creature. |
