The Thin Red Line http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00000GV6B/qid=1109534312/s r=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/102-5575332-8033722 This soundtrack has an incredible effect on me. It puts me in a mood that is profound, and quite apart from the movie for which it was intended. Do you have another you could similarly recommend? |

Are you asking for soundtracks you might appreciate? Or asking for soundtracks that have touched us personally? If it's the former, you'll find Hans Zimmer's: Gladiator and The Last Samurai soundtracks much to your liking. The man is a genius. If it's the latter, i'll return to the thread with a list. |

![]() I absolutely agree with Littlewing on "The Garden State". "O' Brother, Where Art Thou?" is also a soundtrack masterpiece. T-Bone Burnett shows his mastery at production as always, and gave the true classic country spirit a renaissance of appreciation and acknowledgement. "Pleasantville" is a pretty one. "Philadelphia" was powerful. And just for kicks, "Napoleon Dynamite" is an intriguing one. Sincerely, Noah Eaton "If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other" |

"Or asking for soundtracks that have touched us personally?" Yes, but in a way apart from the movie for which it was scored. |

*laughing* I think only the two of us would actually post Hair, Brad. And Forrest Gump, God yes, amazing soundtrack, will have to check out Point Blank, the movie was outstanding. Was going to mention, I have all the soundtracks for The Lord of the Rings, plus Songs and Poems from the Hobbit which are all just amazing. Singles . . . how could I forget Singles, I have that, one of my favorite flicks . . . Oh, The Big Chill is a good one too. Personally, Jesus Christ Superstar is one of my favorites, too. There is a movie called "The Sixties" that was made for tv. That soundtrack is outstanding, a lot of Dylan . . . While I am at it, can't forget "Tommy" and "The Song Remains the Same" . . . I can't include "The Wall" because that was made before the movie. "The Graduate" is another good one. |

Blade Runner (Vangelis) Koyaanisqatsi (Philip Glass) I also remember enjoying the music in The Aviator, but I don't know if there's a soundtrack out for it or not. |

SEA, great minds think alike...us too! ![]() Sue grosse pointe blank's soundtrack was so good it spun off a second one. nice choice brian, i was thinking of posting vangelis, (finally got the director's cut)the movie could not be the same without it. other ones i like, the soundtrack to Snatch is fantastic, the use of music for specific scenes was superb..angel by massive attack, @$^#%*$ in the bushes by oasis and golden brown by the stranglers especially. perfectly executed Tank Girl, never even bothered with the movie but the soundtrack was a great mix of stuff mallrats soundtrack wasn't great, but weezer's susanne and belly's broken apocalypse now's soundtrack, the use of the doors the end..flawless. and yeah, pretty much any tarintino soundtrack is cool |

I found some more: Soundtrack to the movies: "Rush" (Jason Patric) "American Beauty" (Kevin Spacey) "Almost Famous" (actually the actual soundtrack for purchase from American Beauty sucks, it is the music in the movie that is astounding) |

Star Wars - or anything by John Williams. He is awesome; I do much of my writing to his music (especially Star Wars and the Jurassic Park soundtrack). As to soundtracks that are moving, but not in tune (no pun) with the movie, I'll have to think about it. There's one in the back of my head, but I can't bring it to the fore. egowhores.com - really love yourself. |
