Floating gently on a cloud....

Why being alive is good!

I am sure you all have about a hundred a piece, so let's pool them and remember what rocks about being alive.

I'll start:

- Tomorrow teaching begins again, having had a nice restful half term: and I am actually looking forward to seeing the kids again. Even the really bratty class!
- I went for a lovely walk today. It was chilly and windy but sunny too. I went where I hadn't been before so it was all new to me and really beautiful. Nature has a knack of being beautiful.

Anyway, I am full of the joys of living and I hope you will share some of yours too and let's all celebrate!

My son, seeing him smile, cappuccino, good books, friends, love, love, love and the summertime, music, music, music, writing and reading, really good movies and Perry's Vanilla Piece of Cake ice cream. OH! and a well cooked meal, especially when you are not the cook!

Keep 'em coming!

It's the little things isn't it that can give so much pleasure. I notice no one has mentioned money yet! Small things like someone's smile or a piece of music. Makes me think of this quote:

"Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art, like the universe itself (for God did not need to create). It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things which give value to survival."

--C.S. Lewis quotes (British scholar and novelist. 1898-1963)

the ocean, the smell(and the sound ) of rain, my husbands arms around me, my kids and the way they make me laugh and make me feel so complete, music, special friends, my dogs, good food, a long drive, the way the sun feels on my face in summer, helping others....that is just a few things.

Watching a beautiful sunset or sunrise.  Warm sand underfoot as you walk along a beach.  The thrill of having a big fish on your line. The scent of my man's skin, and the scent of a newborn baby.  Picking daisies and lavender.  Morning tea. Surprise emails or phone calls from family and friends.  Laughing until your mascara runs down your face and your sides hurt.  Music..oh yes..music.

Most of all?  Giving birth and watching that tiny miracle grow before your eyes..(don't blink)
Witnessing the birth of your grandchild..through happy thankful tears.

First and above all:
My kids.

A distant rest of the list:
Performing (whether it is music, or getting my backside handed to me in my duties as a professional wrestling manager)
My friends
My ability to write (which has deserted me recently... I must have irritated the Muse)
Physical contact (platonic or not) with someone you care about.
Being able to think up a list (lol)

In the wooden chair
Beside my window
I wear a face born in the falling rain

my girls

my family

the way my four year old comes up to me and says "mom I love you"

the way sunsets can bring to mind great memories

a walk on the beach

a summer breeze

a winters storm

being reminded every day what I am thankful for and being thankful....

"Hello" . . .

"Yes, yes, immediately please."

"What? No, no family is to be involved, let's just sneak in and take him in early daylight, that is when he is sleeping."

mwuahahahahaha . . .

(Hey man, I have nothing to do with the goos, they are on their own and the Sabres are cool, c'mon, man.  I will give you the Bills . . .)

OHHHHH . . . the Van Helsing chick, I walked out on that movie . . .  *grin*
also the nurse with no brain cells in Pearl Harbor, actually nobody had any brain cells in that movie either.
I will admit, she was the only cool thing about Van Helsing.

Laughter, I am thankful for laughter.

Some more:

Getting so many responses on this thread.
Seeing people enjoy remembering what there is to be happy about.
The kids I teach at school, bless them. The way they smile real smiles.
The moment when you first notice that snow is silently falling and it looks so...gentle.
Cuddles and hugs.

the hesitation, nervousness and expectation leading into the release of that first kiss..or more.

the gentle handling of a vinyl record, slipping off the sleeve, placing it softly on the table and gently dropping the needle

being enthralled by a great book that you can't put it down, where the slightest interruption, the call of nature, a ringing phone, a fire, nuclear holocaust is unforgivable

not having to look at buffalo's don paul on the news, is it me or does he have an uncanny resemblance to ron jeremy..shivers

ok, now you had me with the first three amazingly beautiful suggestions, I see writes in there Raph and then the whole buck toothed Don Paul - Ron Jeremy thing just made me shiver . . .

you are going to get it . . .

But yes, all of the above are so beautiful and the snow!  Yes, it is falling like that right now . . .
