Certain "alice in chains" and "iron maiden" covers are also worth mentioning... and there must be others  P.S. yes the iron maiden covers, i always forget what that guy's name is, the character on all those covers? and yup AIC's jar of flies was a great cover and the artwork inside as well Tool's Ænima was on of the most unique cover concepts I've seen |

i miss real 33and1/3 lps with the big cardboard covers...cd's with the little books and paper posters do have advantages but was just something about looking over those big covers while listening to a alblum that was part of the experience.can't think of a favorite right now but naked women always seemed to deserve special attention Live like it's your last day... |

Every now and then I still make the rare find at thrift shops or record shows, meaning that discs are in very good shape and joy of all joys, the poster is still neatly folded in the cover. Just makes my day, it does! |

bbent i agree 100%, cds bore me and i think that's at least part of the reason the music industry is seeing alot of people downloading(legally or illegally). naked women, i guess you l#ved hendrix' electric ladyland? karen i used by doubles, discs that were in horrible shape so i could hang some of my favourites on the wall. speaking of inserts and gatefolds, im upset, i lost an early copy of sgt peppers that contained kiddy style insert, sort of like a cut and paste activity thingy(eloquent explanation i know) later copies didn't include it, same with the poster from the white album and come to think of it, the poster from dark side of the moon! karilea my pleasure Sudhir mention of the scorpions set off memories of some classic metal covers, remember Quiet Riot's cover for Metal health? l#ved that as a kid |

Metal Health was going to be the first one Imentioned - I still have the actual record for that one! It is Eddie - Eddie Maiden and by far some of the best artwork. Korn - Follow the Leader - Todd McFarlane is far, far too cool. (BTW - Freak on a Leash is also one of the coolest music videos i've ever seen) I agree that Ænima was unique, but as far as likabiliy, I think Lateralus was way cool. I'm sure there are plenty more... egowhores.com - really love yourself. |

And what about Megadeth 'countdown to extinction' ? A friend of mine had liked it so much that he decided to paint the front and back side on 1m x 1m canvases... and did it quite well. |

grins i think i still have that vinyl in storage, have to check on those again. and yeah, i completely forgot about lateralus, l#ve that layered booklet, would l#ve to get my hands on a vinyl version. korn is a great choice, there has to be a poster of that, i'll have to see, put that in my music room. i met and had a nice conversation with Todd McFarlane's dad, one of the nicest guys you'll ever met and proud as hell of his son sudhir just took a look at it, freaky *london calling by the clash is another favourite |

Albums are . . . beyond anything and I always snag 'em up when I see them anywhere . . . there is nothing like opening that album up and being invited into the mind of the band, their lyrics, the fantasy of music . . . This will take me awhile. Offhand: Joni Mitchell's interpretation of CSNY . . ."So Far" The comic strip cover from Janis' "Cheap Thrills" Hendrix, "Bold As Love" cover. The entire "Physical Graffiti" album from Zep. The Doors, "Morrison Hotel" Floyd, "Dark Side of the Moon" Elton John "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy" Grateful Dead "American Beauty" There are so much more, I guess these because of the originality, some for the artwork, but most for the vision. As for that Sticky Fingers album, my sister had that, I remember it well . . . |

Megadeth had some ok covers... but it always felt as if they were trying to overcompensate for not being Metallica... don't get me wrong, I love Dave Mustaine, have all their albums... but there is definitely an inferiority complex in there somewhere... Other covers: Live - Throwing Copper - not their best album, but the artwork on the cover is literally artwork. Speaking of artwork - Billy Joel, River of Dreams was rather cool... so was Glass Houses, for the symbology. Now I'm gonna have to go home and look through my albums to find all the cool ones again. thanks. egowhores.com - really love yourself. |

yo A dude from what i can remember axis had the lady with the snakes or something wrapped around her head.seems like the chile peppers borrowed the idea for a video or cover a few years ago.havn't seen that cover in a long time though since i downloaded most of my jimi from kazaa.believe i might have that and ladyland on a casset too.i got rid of 3 big boxes of albums a couple of years ago when i was thinking i might be needing to make a fast move and had way to much stuff stashed to take.got to agree album art does tend to reach beyond the fringes.lol Live like it's your last day... |

throwing copper, great painting. i have glass houses somewhere, damn i haven't heard billy in ages! bbent, axis' cover had a spread of about 30 nude women. not sure if that was limited to the uk version only though. from what i've read jimi hated it, but millions of male fans disagreed i think. grins Yes Sharon, was wondering if anyone would mention Abraxas. Wow! just looked at the lion cover for Santana, excellent surrealism, human faces forming the lion's face |

so my curiosity got the best of me and i do believe your right...forgot you were in canada and might have a import.i did a little googling and apears the us version was jimi with lots of arms and some cobras and things coming from the top of his head...only place i know where you can watch someone slit a throat on tv but can't show a boob.i remember when john lennon and yoko ono did that naked cover stores were required to keep it in a brown paper bag. |

The UK version of the nude women was for Electric Ladyland, not Axis, but Axis is the one with the India style them and all the cobras, yes. The US would not release the album cover and yes, Raph, you are right, it was not approved by Jimi either. God, Santana album art is a world of its own and yes, Sharon, Abraxas, that would make for some amazing tattoos . . . I miss my albums, I can literally sit for hours just going through them . . . |

bbent i don't know why i said axis the second time around when i'd originally said electric ladyland.just flooded with memories of different albums i guess. but yeah, we get all the uk versions. i just picked up the capitol Beatles records, i can't believe how different they are from the EMI versions i grew up with! Yeah Sue thanks for catching that, i'd originally said Electric and then zoned, as i often do. |

i think he saw it as disrespectful. according to jimi, electric ladyland was intended as a tribute "Some groupies know more about the music than the guys. People call them groupies but i prefer the term 'Electric Ladies' My whole album is about them." |

I would have to say that Frank Frazetta's artwork for the Molly Hatchet covers were sooooo choice. Unfortunately, his studio (about 30 minutes from here) burned down several years ago. I don't know if the orkginals were lost, however one can hope for miracles. In the wooden chair |
