For all those men who say, "why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free." Here's an update for you. Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage, why? Because women realize, it's not worth buying the whole pig just to get a little sausage. *Andy Rooney* |

"Women's brains use higher and more evolved functions, which account for their sensitivity, their humaneness, their worry, whereas men rely on more primitive functions. See rock, chase. "Why must you lead, when I want to lead? If I want to dance I will ask you to dance. If I want to speak I will open my mouth and speak. Everyone is forever plaguing me to speak further. Why? What good is it to tell you you are in my every thought from the time I wake? What good can come from my saying that I sometimes cannot think clearly or do my work properly? What gain can rise of my telling you the only time I feel fear as others do is when I think of you in harm?" - From The Village. Said by Joaquin Phoenix. That whole scene is amazing. And great thread... this is only one of my favorite quotes. I'm sure I'll be back with more! He was a man of sorrows |

just one? sorry, couldn't choose.. " Men use thought only as authority for their injustice, and employ speech only to conceal their thoughts" ~ Voltaire "An intellectual is a man who says a simple thing in a difficult way; an artist is a man who says a difficult thing in a simple way." ~Charles Bukowski "Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It's the transition that's troublesome." ~Isaac Asimov "We do not have to visit a madhouse to find disordered minds; our planet is the mental institution of the universe." ~Goethe "He who fights monsters should look into it that he himself does not become a monster. When you gaze long into the Abyss, the Abyss also gazes into you." ~Nietzche "There is no greater sorrow than to recall in misery the time when we were happy." ~ Dante One may have a blazing hearth in one's soul, and yet no one ever comes to sit by it. ~Van Gogh "Love is friendship set on fire." ~french proverb "The Edge... There is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over. The others --- the living --- are those who pushed their control as far as they felt they could handle it, and then pulled back, or slowed down, or did whatever they had to when it came time to choose between Now and Later" ~Hunter S thompson "I have a theory that the truth is never told during the 9 to 5 hours." ~Hunter S Thompson "I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone.... but they've always worked for me." ~ Hunter S Thompson |

Ok, here are a few of my other favorites. There are just too many great quotes... "God did not play dice with the universe." (In different words) -Einstein "We do not write because we want to; we write because we have to." -W. Somerset Maughan “Death is no more than passing from one room into another. But there’s a difference for me, you know. Because in that other room I shall be able to see.” -Helen Keller "Go and preach the Gospel to the world... and if you must, use words." -Saint Francis of Assisi (not for sure, though) “I am free of all prejudices. I hate everyone equally.” -W.C. Fields “The worst loneliness is to not be comfortable with yourself.” -Mark Twain He was a man of sorrows ...I am a girl of tears. |

THE STRUGGLE OF THE BUTTERFLY A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared. He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours. It struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could, and it could go no farther. So the man decided to help the butterfly. He took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then merged easily, BUT, it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings. He continued to watch the butterfly. He expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and the body would contract. Neither Happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled wings. It was never able to fly. The man acted with well- intentioned kinds, but he didn't understand the consequences. The restricting cocoon and the struggle required to get through the tiny opening, were God's way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into it's wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved it's freedom from the cocoon. Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If God allowed us to go through life without any obstacles, it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as we could have been.... and we could never fly..... Have a great day, great life, and struggle a little.... Then Fly! ============================================ IMHO "God" can be replaced with "nature" or whatever anybody believes in... "Time has told me not to ask for more, one day our ocean will find its shore" ~Nick Drake |
