I was watching local news and the most bizarre weather is showing up in the most unlikely places. I suppose I read too much science fiction, but I can't help but wonder if someone is messing with us all. The Atlantic is sure having a terrible state of emergency with the snow. They showed all my favorite places in MA, and Maine were in a real mess along with all our Atlantic provinces too. In the west, we have floods and mud slides for the first time in such a very long time. Many have lost their homes, and we all think it sad but equally strange. How's the weather where you are, normal or do you think it really is abnormal? |

Actually it is probably pretty normal although before the snowstorm we were warmer than usual, Sharon. But where I live, I am on the edge of a mountain ridge I believe, (supposedly a very high elevation for this area only) so we can get whatever surrounds us doesn't..always a bit worse than the south or north of us. You can drive into Maryland ...5 miles south...and the streets are all cleaned within a 24 hour period...here only the main highways are cleaned but we are a commonwealth with many small local governments...sometimes that is a negative aspect of PA compared to other states. And so we have to deal with state and boroughs and townships always fighting one another. I think on the east coast we have been having too nice of weather until this month. I can't speak for the West Coast but I have always believed as I do about Florida and ocean front homes, or hillside ones or those in forests, that people are building their homes where they shouldn't be and there is no guarantee when it comes to Mother Nature. I believe nature runs a course of moods and tudes as we humans do. I don't think anything peculiar, just simply mother nature being who she is...sometimes mild, sometimes tearful...sometimes defensive, and sometimes down right nasty. I've seen a wave of weather since a child...and actually, our winters are a little milder on the whole then they used to be.... There are and always will be, waves of hurricanes, noreasters...tornadoes, earthquakes, etc.... Hot and Dry weather, rainy weather, down right cold and frigid weather, and mild, dark, rainy, cloudy...it's natures way... |

We smirk because we can for it was you who actually said, "We never get snow like that!" I have a news flash for you too Nan - you are getting a rather large dump again tomorrow on that nicely scraped driveway LOL. Good exercise if nothing else. |

Hi Mysteria: Actually we are having strange weather in Coeur d'Alene, but on the plus side. after getting a foot of snow and below freezing temps. for several days two weeks ago, we got a warming trend that hasn't stopped. The ski resorts are closing due to the lack of snow. It's been in the 40's and 50's everyday and no end in sight yet! I am not complaining!! Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |

Well.....has anyone seen The Day After Tomorrow???? The type of weather in that movie is creepy!...It scared me when they had the weather status board up......that was amazing. Now look at the weather and think 'bout the movie. The polar ice caps are melting and weird weather is happening, not just here in the USA but in the entire world. Im cristian and i've read The Book of Revelation a few times. And (not quoting the Bible)it said that a great wall of water will come, and that the greatest nation will fall. Something like that. Keep in mind that I wasn't quoting from the Bible. This is just by memory. But....I do have a feeling that the Bible says things about the day of the coming of the Lord. And the signs. We have been having weird weather here too. one day it'll be 32 for the high and the next day we actually reach like 40! Thats kinda my opinion. and what the weather here has been (keep in mind I didn't mean for the facts in the Bible to be(and their not) quoted straight from the Bible) ~~AllyKat~~ |

The weather around the entire world is completely abnormal. This has been such a mild winter. It's kinda scary, actually. Thinking what in the heck is going on in this world, atmosphere (government) to make everything tilt right off the scales. All of the storms, too. *shaking head* |

I'm sticking to cycles of weather patterns. Could mankind have contributed to the oddities? Possibly. That would fail to adequately explain all the other massive storms chronicled through text and old men sitting on Feed Store porches. My dad has a fascination with natural tragedy, especially water related. He has clippings of all the writeups of the hurricanes we went through during the 70's and early 80's, and even some of before then, like the utterly vile hurricanes of the 50's and 60's. One of them pretty much buried the town I was raised around in about 15 feet of water. There's amberish pictures showing the eaves of businesses kissing the churlish morass down one of the major commercial streets. And that storm wasn't the only one. There's a reason so many compare modern storms to ones 30 years or so ago, or not since 1893 or whathaveyou. And I very much doubt global warming, ozone holes, ozone buildup, bovines farting, lack of trees, too many trees, forest fires, Bush, or any other apologetic out there could adequately explain those past weather phenominas. |
