I wasn't sure where to post this, but I wanted to get everyone's opinions and thoughts on the whole gasoline price subject. Also, if you would all be so kind to sate my curiousity and state how much it is in your area; I would be thankful. ![]() Nothing can deter a poet, for he is actuated by pure love. Well, basically, THEY SUCK! *okay, deep breath Krista* Last week they were 1.89 here but now they're down to 1.75 (I'm in Minnesota, not to far from the Twin Cities). And those prices aren't even too bad compared to some areas...ugh.. *Krista Knutson* "Cherish your vision; Cherish your ideals; Cherish the music that stirs in your heart, the beauty that forms in your mind, the loveliness that drapes your purest thoughts. ~Hey there,...they DO suck. hehe...can I say that here? Oops. Anyway,...here in Boston,Ma. I've been seeing and paying between 1.60 and 1.67???? That's mostly just for SELF serve. uugghhh. Full service is more...of course. But heck, the increase in prices sure taught me how to pump my own pretty quick. hehe. Take care all. *Peace. ~Ok, now that I am paying attention!!!....1.60 - 1.67 isn't all that bad compared to the last post. Yuck. Sorry. *Peace. Well, here in southern West Virginia, the cheapest is about 1.45. But if you go to Huntington, where gas is always chaper, you can find some at about 1.35. This is the only time I'm actually glad to not be able to drive yet! ![]() "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." -Oscar Wilde "The robbed that smiles steals something from the thief" -Shakespea |

Well, I'm from N. Carolina and we have seen a jump in prices from .99 to $1.69 in about 8 months , now I can still go to S. Carolina and get it for about $1.39 So, we aren't hurting as bad as a lot of other places I guess ![]() All my love, Jeffrey |

Full service? What's that? I just filled up and had to pay 1.68 per for self serve. I live in Idaho. Thinking of moving to Phoenix if this keeps up. Poetry~ Words falling on paper, painting a dream. Shawna R. Holder Boise, Idaho |

Well, here in Michigan, close to Detroit, gas prices last week were about $2.30/gal for regular. Now they say that the pipeline around Lansing has been repaired and prices have dropped to about $2/gal for regular. For some reason, I'm sure there will be another 'problem' pop up just in time for the 4th weekend...when a lot of people will be traveling. It's a good thing my car went terminal back in January...if I had to pay $16 for 8 gallons, I'd be doing more walking than I am already. Alicat, the cynically jaded Persnikitty |

Oh rub it in Chris! LOL Here in IL. our prices vary. I'm paying about 1.70-1.99 a gallon for reg. I hear in some part of Chicago they're paying 5.00 a gallon! It's outrageous! You get 1/2 the gas you pay for. Most of it's in taxes, 7%. |

The other day me and a friend were driving around and saw two gas stations right next to each other (a Texaco and a Conoco). Price at the Texaco was $1.79. Price at the Conoco was $1.85. And the best part was that the Conoco was busier than the Texaco. Anyway, that's my amusing anecdote for the day. Ryan btw, gas prices here (KC) are now at $1.62. I like too many things and get all confused and hung-up running from one falling star to another till i drop. This is the night, what it does to you. Here in the heartland, Salina, Kansas, they were at $1.79 last week and have dropped to $1.64 today at the more competitive stations. Ugh! [Sitting here next to nice motorhome, fully equipped, generator and all, that gets 8 mpg.] Any surprise that a few weeks ago when we decided to sell the motorhome, the prices jumped? Plugged nickels, anyone? Sunny ~~~Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. Helen Keller ~~~ When you want to be loved, look within...KRJ |

In Ontario Canada, we're paying about $0.76 per litre, which works out to about $2.88 per gallon, but ... if you add in the exchange rate between Canada and the US ... we're probably paying close to about $4.00 per gallon in comparison (I "think" if I did my math right)?!? Ouch! |

Okay, I feel bad for those in England and Canada, however, that has been the way of gas prices over there for a long time. In fact being ex-military and having spent much hard-earned money just to have the privilage of driving in some of these countries I have always found it amusing to listen to us (Americans) complain about our gas prices. Okay, down from the soap box... here in Northern California, we are about $1.50 -$1.75 a gallon, down from almost $1.90 a month or two ago. The best thing about all of this? I work across the street from my house and haven't driven my car in almost three months! HA! HA! HA! ROTHLMAO! HA! ![]() Yesterday is ash, tomorrow is smoke; only today does the fire burn. Oh my, don't you guys have it bad....*g*...currently, my tanks holds about 8 gallons and it costs £0.89 per litre that's slightly under $2.00... Seriously, our government takes most of the price in taxes, pertrol is really at cost about £0.10 or slightly more but it's the major revenue here... i.e...it's actually cheaper for me to buy a loaf of bread in my village at £0.63 per loaf than to go to the nearest supermarket 8 miles away and buy it for £0.18 per loaf...which I guess is a good thing as it means we support the village and all we have here is a co-op, 2 hairdressers, a doctor's, a brilliant school (which is why most families live here) a huge company that employs around 1400 (200 live in the village), we have a church, a theatre, superb walks, a windmill, a newsagent, a bakery and a funny kind emporium that sells candles and all sorts of wonderful old knick-knacks, a drapery (very up-market...lol) and sunsets you couldn't buy if you tried and of course there is me, and I go for less than £0.89 per litre (cause there's not much to me..*g*)...seriously, we also have a pre-school for under 3's and they are just so cute with there huge briefcases (to carry sandwiches) and they wave at you cause they are in love with life.. ![]() ok, I'll pretend I never heard you say, "well........." Snoops can run in the fresh air, I get presents of mice, rats and birds...but also the sound of a robin singing sweetly or a blackbird....we're only small and my house was actually build on the old garage site, shame they never left the pertol connected but I'm only 1 hour from town (London) or to the north, I can be on the M6 headed Birmingham/Bristol in about 40 minutes... How's that for demograhic info...LOL ps, my bed is about 15 foot away and I'm headed there now with no petrol in my tank....thank heavens.... ![]() HUGS [This message has been edited by RainbowGirl (edited 06-26-2000).] |

Well here in Toronto,Canada. Gas keeps going up from 77.7 cents per litre to 80.0. I don't know what that would convert to by gallon but I drive a Chevy Van and right now it can cost me up to $70 to fill. Marina |

Last time I looked was 2.09per in NJ. Ever notice how the price just seems to go up in late spring, just before SUMMER? Could it be all those people who take day trips by car? Like all the trips to the beach and amusements parks, visiting relatives while on vacation, etc. I know I'll be digging deep this summer. Heating oil is also going up this winter. I wonder why? Could it be it's going to be COLD. I see a vicious cycle forming here. ~Lorraine |

I had to put my two cents worth in, so to speak. Here is Australia it would be $5.36 a gallon( if my calculations are correct ![]() God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can, and the wisdom to know it's me. ~Unknown |

Okay..sorry for just getting to this again. I have to say I have a little less than some on here to complain about. I think I said 1.43 for what I'm paying in my old hometown on my way to work didn't I? What worries me is that it will continue to get far far worse than we could imagine. Did I see something in the news on a site about dropping the tax on gas? Couldn't be. I should have checked it out,but didn't. The whole thing is getting outrageous, and that goes for EVERYWHERE I think. Sometime in April, there was a "gas out" where people didn't buy gas for three days. I think it helped in the town where I buy my gas, but it didn't take long for the rates to go up again. Can anyone say, Horse and Buggy?? Geesh..LOL! here between Portland and the Oregon Coast...we live on a commute/tourist route... I do know our local gas station owner rather well and he says that it isn't HIM making the high prices..it's the big companies..I didn't do the gas out...cuz all it did was hurt your little guy local stations...the big guys were untouched.. Our gas is currently 1.64.9 (I think..I'll check today when I go to the shop) Oh and Rainbow m'dear....it sounds absolutely idyllic...got room for me, 2 sons, 2 1/2 cats, a yellow lab dog, and bucksin quarter horse? It is indeed sad to say that though the prices may have dipped slightly, over the past several months, the current middle-to-high price has become common, and acceptable, now being the standard against which all increases are measured. |

Temptress, To add my gripe to Eagle One's. We don't import or export our own gasoline and we're still paying world market prices PLUS a goods and sercives tax on the already taxed price. Think the going rate is about $1.70 here in S. Cali ... though Michael warns that it's about to jump for the Spring (guess it's a Cali thing, like lemmings to the sea LOL). Thankfully, we just quit a job for which we had to drive 90 miles round-trip, and Mike got a nice cozy little gig about 5 minutes away where he makes easily twice as much whilst I sit at home on my duff and complain about how bored I am. ![]() LOL -- I need a job. Well, here in washington State...seattle area.... it's running about $1.40 for unleaded and about $1.60 for premium. These are averages. But here is what REALLY kicks my butt. I had my dad's truck for several days, and it's a diesel. Normally, it's WAY cheaper for fuel than it is gasoline. But......Diesel is WAY high right now. About $1.75 a gallon.
