And amazingly, most of the U.S.'s dog hunting tradition stems from the poorest of this country, using dogs to help hunt raccoons, rabbits, birds, anything that was cookable.  Conversely, in Great Britain, dog use was almost exclusively in the realm of the aristocracy.

I suppose whether you are "hunting" or "searching" for a fox might be related to "what you definition of is is."
