Pretend you are reorganizing all society and culture. You may only have ten of many manners, studies, pursuits represented by special words such as: Artistic, mysterious, sexual, spiritual religious, martial, intellectual, entertaining, political, legal, educational, familial, literary humanistic, linguistic, naturalistic, monetary musical, marital, culinary, perfectionistic business, philosophic, medical, technologic, scientific, cultural, romantic travelling, cosmetic, pragmatic etc! When you choose ten the others don't become absent, but only put further into the background of the world for the others; What ten may you rank as the most important? And why are those the most important to you? Look forward to seeing your perspectives ![]() |

SELF ACCEPTANCE: most important factor overall....every single human being should be in-touch with their own feelings, understand cause and effect in the emotional aspect, and understand that no- one is perfect...and its okay to be different..as long as you strive to maintain a healthy mind...believing in yourself is the best way to live CULTURAL: my system of beliefs and my lifestyle overall may be much different than some others, but i feel that understanding and sharing one another’s culture leads to "community" on a larger scale. The more we understand, the less we tend to be afraid of what is different. LINGUISTIC: again, sharing of language and understanding of each other's language breaks the barriers, a repeat of earlier "The more we understand, the less we tend to be afraid of what is different." TRAVEL: absolutely nothing wrong with finding a place to settle, but travelling gives us opportunity to indulge in other lifestyles/cultures..gives us a broader perspective of life...again..visit above quote SPIRITUAL: belief in one's own spirit, belief that there is "something bigger and better" to strive for and having the hope that we can achieve a better placement in existance altogether is important. Regardless of what "our" final outcome is..there is no harm in believing in ourselves, and living in a way to influence our afterlife. EDUCATION: knowledge breaks ALL barriers...i always encourage education. PHILOSOPHY: encourages the sharing of beliefs/theories...encourages deeper forms of thought, analyzation, encourages people to question their own beliefs (not necessarily change them, but to look deeper into their own beliefs and why they have them) ARTISTIC: using this word to encompass music, theatre, art, and other forms of "artistic expression"...talent is abundant and should be shared ![]() SCIENCE: using this to encompass all types of science including medical...i encourage the constant research of what is around us...knowledge, knowledge, knowledge ![]() SEXUAL: many aspects to this, we know we have to procreate for survival of species, but, humans also enjoy sex and sexual activities for entertainment, relationships with other people, etc. Having a good knowledge of our own bodies, our own sexual needs, encouragement to be responsible and retain our self esteem is a good start ![]() and to never use sex as a weapon....never use sex to harm ANYONE. so, in my long winded way...sex is a very important aspect of society...but EDUCATION must accompany this so we can all be "safe and not sorry" ![]() |

Were you to try sequencing air, water, and food into some order of importance, I suspect you'd quickly find that the order has a tendency to shift according to circumstance. Any time you have only two of the three, the most important one will be the one you don't have. |

I believe some serve more closly a circumstance that is more present and permanent throughout being, wordly and universally, rather than simply or specially the sphere of individual or humans. The importance I believe comes in serving more widely to all, rather than narrowly to individualistic and nationalistic, or humanistic appetites and structuralisms. It seems obvious to me the world is about much more than humans, therefore pursuits must reflect that, and when they don't they seem very selfish and low to me. |

If there is going to be AN order there must BE order. Ah, but Ron, perceptually perhaps, but physiologically it's always air, water, food. But, I've heard that if you train yourself to do without food pretty soon you won't need water or air either. |

If you don't have any air, LR, water and food don't become less important, they become unimportant. For me, this is the kind of thought process that might correspond to Abraham Maslow's classic Hierarchy of Needs. When climbing a ladder, it's not logical to declare the first rung the most important if your goal is to get to the roof, even though you can't possibly get to the roof without first putting a foot on that initial rung. The most important rung will always be the next rung. Essorant, many would argue there is absolutely nothing wrong with being selfish, nor can it possibly be avoided. What many think of as selfishness is really just the pursuit of short-term goals, while altruism is another word for long-term selfishness. |
