I was wondering if it is possible for poets to change the way they write. For example: I tend to use technical terms like: extract, condense, etc using these in a 'feeling' way, not chemical. But because of my background, these words keep popping up all the time as alternative voaculary words. How can I enrich my vocabulary, where I will see the difference in the poetry I write? I know that reading more is one solution. But are there other solutions? Thanks Tais ![]() |

Absolutely. One method is to picture an event or person in an event mentally, place yourself most delicately within their shoes, then write something from their perspective, with their vocabulary, seen from their eyes. You might be pleasantly surprised. ![]() |

Try different forms, you might have trouble incorporating some of your normal vocabulary into more traditional forms. |

Dear Alicat, Sunshine and Marshalzur, Thank you for the help. And I will try all three. I'll post my new poems when I finish them, and will post what I did to make them different from my usual writes. Once again, thank you! Tais ![]() |
