...no not mental! lol! actually I need to know if there are any website design programs that are free, and really quality? This may be much, but I am determined to make my own site, and it's going to look spiffy, and I am NOT paying for it. Call me stubborn, call me a brat, but I just need a little help. Thanx! |

Yahoo! GeoCitiesTop Pick One of the oldest and biggest names in free Web space offers 11MB of space, plus free technical support. Sign up for service. geocities.yahoo.com I did one a long time ago, but never really messed with it after that. I think it may still be there if I could remember the name of it lol. Anyway it is free and you could probably find some more by typing in free web space under google. Let me know when it's done so I can go check it out. |

it looks as though you've followed the advice on the site builder to use index.html as your main page. however when you do so, your address is: http://www.geocities.com/mycloudeddreams/ [index.html is not needed]. it's broken down like this: www.geocities.com is your server. mycloudeddreams is your space on the server, which is used to identify any pages you've created. index.html should always been your main page as it shortens the address visitors need to type. for any extra pages, that's when you have extensions, and they're usually just kept for links within your page and thus are relatively short and simple. /jen/ 'i don't care if it hurts, i want to have control. i want a perfect body, i want a perfect soul.' Ugh...Geocities. Sorry...I just dun care for Geocities much. I'll stick with Angelfire, but only because I don't have my own server. Angelfire sucks too, most of the time..heh. Anyway, it's a nice site. However, if you want to get into the really fun stuff, you might want to look into learning HTML. It's not hard once you memorize the tags, and it can be an excellent tool for making your webpage look exactly as you want it to. If you're interested, you might want to look for Practical HTML 4, by Lee Anne Phillips. I think I paid maybe $25 for it at Books'a'Million, and that was before I got my discount card. It's a bit of a hefty book, but extremely useful. Phillips puts the information in a way that is easy to understand, and even gives you full example pages of HTML that you can type up to see how certain tags work. There's probably also a few pages online that will teach you some HTML, but most won't have the in-depth information that you can find in a good book. Just for a small example of what HTML can do, here's a website I made for a local school, built entirely with HTML and Notepad. http://www.vivianbadams.org/ -Adam [This message has been edited by Kosetsu (01-06-2003 10:58 AM).] |
