I have had one for the past week. I caught it on my trip to see my grandmother for the last time. I just can't get rid of this cold. No matter what I do. I am sick of being sick.

Eat well (a variety of things -- not the same thing every day, 'cause then you don't get all the nutrients you need)
Sleep enough. (still workin' on that one myself)
Ginger if you've got an upset stomach.
Tea or some other kind of antioxidant.

I know how you feel, I got the flu last night myself.  I'm snacking on yogurt and some tea.  That seems to help my throat a bit.  Hope you feel better soon.

Well I personal cure is Blackcurrent Jam or jello if your American, and some honey in a cup with boiled water. Then get some ginger root, put that in let it stew for a while, remove ginger root and drink. Not the nicest
drink ever, but it is soothing. Also eating raw ginger root, be warned it tastes very hot. Other than that wrap up in bed or in a blanket on a sofa and get some rest and relax.

I find a lot of sleep helps, also try and forget about your worries as you much likely to get over it faster if you are not stressed out.

I could tell you some amazing english home remedies (most of them predating modern medicine). I can't remember what this one is for or if it's actually 100% correct but I remember one where you have to rub horse manure on your feet whilst standing on your head... actually I think that one is a joke but the remedies are all pretty much the same as that (minus the horse manure)... actually forget everything I said after all they kept little pouches of fragrence around their necks to ward of the plague...

LoL at Andrew. Do anything but be Canadian. We keep going no matter what deathly illness we have... Go to bed, and stay there until you feel better; if you keep going you'll be sicker longer *knows this from personal experience*

LOL at Serenity's reply. Run really, really  fast, Julie. Maybe you can leave it in the dust?
Just leave it alone, it has to go away by itself.

Zinc lozenges and chicken broth.
Then curl up with a heating pad, sleep and sweat it out.
Usually this works for me, but the zinc is the most effective,
especially when taken right when you start feeling ill.

Hope you’re better soon

Well, vitamin C is essential, Drink lots of Orange Juice. Up sleep levels as others have suggested- and also make sure that it's not something worse than a cold. If you're sick for long enough, maybe you should see a doctor. Almost everything has flu like symptoms now a days.

Why is it that we are at our most ingenius only when trying to destroy the things that keep us alive and thriving?

FFF, is right. Hot Whiskey cures what ailes you, some people put cloves or squeeze a lemon in, it works. I should know I'm an irish man. Though I prefer my whiskey cold 2 ice cubes and some cola.
