FOOTBALL....argggghhh...I know, I know, it's only half time, but egads---AN INTERCEPTION??? I should just turn this off right now. Somebody convince me. WHY DO I LOVE THIS STUFF? I know. I am a masochist. Sigh. I could sure use a beer. OR FIVE. And just for the sake of conversation, doncha think "SAINTS" is an awful name for a football team? Every win is a miracle. I'm gonna start a Saints Fan Club called "The Martyrs". And how about that emblem? The Fleur-de-Lis. It's a FLOWER for cryin' out loud...A FRENCH FLOWER. Sweet, but how does that compare with VIKINGS, or BUCCANEERS??? (sorry people, I HATE watching the game alone, ) |

LOL @ serenity....I hear ya! Of course I'm a diehard Vikings fan, but they're screwed now. But they're tough and intimidating. GO VIKES!!!! Hope the rest of your day goes better than the game! --Beth Howl at the stars, whisper when you're sleeping, I'll be there to hold you, I'll be there to stop the chills and all the weeping. |

um...hmmmm...nobody is that dumb---lol and? We happen to be playing Detroit...sigh... and a thought just occurred to me, perhaps the SAINTS were simply named thus to INSPIRE prayer??? IF that is the case, today they are doing a great job! *grumble* geaux saints (typos) one eye on this screen and one eye on the television [This message has been edited by serenity blaze (09-29-2002 03:54 PM).] |

The last time I watched more than ten minutes of football, the quarterback was Dan Fouts. The last time I watched a basketball game, it was Magic against the Bird. The last time I watched a fight, Sugar Ray Leonard creamed Roberto "No Mas" Duran. The last time I watched baseball … oh, wait. I've never watched baseball! |

*blinks* OH! American football. Just teasing. Seriously? I used to love it, as a kid, at four, I knew all the calls and the handsignals, and I wanted to grow up to be a man so I could play football. I don't know what happened, but now I can't stand it. *shrug* Masochist? That'd be me. I'm stupid that way. Kielo |

Ah Sen, I know what you mean. On the weekend my beloved Pies were in the Grand Final. I was screaming, my brother was throwing things - we lost damnit...lol So yeah, I know exactly where you're coming from. "It is far more difficult to murder a phantom than a reality." - Virginia Woolf |

Ok lady...here's my spin on your football thing... Rugby. I don't like rugby really. But last night - there I was with all my flatmates screaming my head off at the tv. Why? Rugby League (different rules from Rugby Union). There's a series called the NRL. There is ONE NZ team - the Warriors. Against 9 Australian teams I think (could be wrong). For the last 6 years or so NZ hasn't been able to get anywhere in this competition. Always at the bottom of the table. And the competition between NZ and Aus is legendary. Great allies in many things, but in sports - bitter bitter rivals. (Let me emphasise the word bitter). Well last night we were competing in the semi-final. The Australian press had bagged us as losers. Even the Australian commentators were bagging us once the game actually started. And we won, 16 - 10. The Australians had the wind behind in them in the second half (important for kicking the ball down the field etc), our guys were exhausted, yet we still won. I don't know the rules, and what's more I don't care. I scream for national pride. Bite me, Aussies. Heh heh heh K |

Being a man of many interests, it was with a bit of astonishment that I watched the 3-0 (now 3-1) New Orleans Saints lose to the 0-3 (now 1-3) Detroit Lions. One thought came to my mind. That thought was "Why"? Thank you. What light through yon window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun. |

Moonlight Romeo? Laughing, I have always said that the Saints are extremely unreliable. You can't count on them to win--but at the same time? you can't count on them to lose. They are the team that drives Bookies crazy...not to mention the diehard fans of the Saints. We do have some consolation--regardless--if they win, we CELEBRATE. When they lose--we drown our sorrows. I have seen more than a few who attended home games check the newpaper for the score on Mondays! *hic* |

Serenity, I am with you, I get VERY emotional when I watch football. I used to wonder if I was the only female that actually IGNORED my spouse while watching this sport! LOL I scream at my TV as well, in fact, I need a NERF brick to throw at it once in a while! Giggles Skyshine, I have to say, your loss was my gain. (I’m sorry) We scored 28 points in a 1-minute, 47-second span, in the end of the first half. Alexander took in 5 TD’s in the FIRST HALF! And what happened to Moss? Had he not missed so many passes, it would have been a tight game. I Love FootBall! ~Sheri |

I never watch sport, but I got into the hurling chamionship.when my county go to the quarter final. Hurling is always exciting to watch, more so than hockey...all the pads they wear..shame on them... with Hurling most of the players don't wear helmets, and there is usually some drama between the teams, scuffles breaking out. Anyway I watched my country progress nicely to the All ireland final only to be thrashed. The air was blue I as watched the other team completely destroy our team. I sank into my arm chair with my counties pride in tatters. Maybe next year. Don't drag the orchestra into this thing |

anya? Have ya ever played it? I fell in love with the game when I was a kid. The guys used to let me play because I was small, quick and crazy. grinning, even then? I'd try to tackle ANYBODY. I would just dive and hurl myself at their knees--a pretty effective method for knocking them down--until I got knocked out. Literally. Then the mom got me some poms poms and I was exiled to cheerleading. And I've been writing poetry ever since. (except when I'm screaming at the television--and I'm still convinced I'm a better tackle!) |
