Whether you're 13 or 93, I don't care... I've got one question.

Have you experienced the Big Heartbreak of your life yet? Or even plural? Don't hafta tell me anything, just gotta say yes or no.

My answer is yes. Twice, actually, two very seperate occurences... Both totally out of my control. They've haunted me and made me who I am now. Which isn't necessarily good, it just is.

i'll be waiting for you
do exactly what you're told

Who hasn't, continuously? Sometimes, it seems like you can base who you were with you were going out with at the time. That's why I prefer that my words are my constant companions right now ... I don't deal with heartbreak very well.

yes..of course...I dont know anyone who has opened their heart to another that hasnt known heartbreak. And some love in such a way that anytime they lose someone they will feel like its the heartbreak of their life.

Losing someone..or having to say goodbye to someone who has become the focal point of our life hurts like hell no matter how many times we go thru it.

But their is another way to look at it too...
For one to be able to say that they have had the "big heartbreak" of their life....
then that also means that they were lucky enough to have known the "love of a lifetime"

I've known that kind of love and loss...and yes..as Lori said it often defines who we are and how we move forward or stand still in the loss. Most of the time its only  learning to trust and finding love again that allows us to heal from the loss.

Actually, I admit to fibbing a bit above ...

I'm not happy at all with having "words as my lovers" right now.

I want you, baby.

Ah, c'mon, Mikhail, I'm currently lost in a more content place than you'd think would be possible for me. At least it's not two years ago, y'know?  I'm just getting sucked back into the past by unwanted dreams, and really, the present rocks, even with all its disadvantages.

Not to say that I don't miss you immensely. But I save my heart break for people I can never get back, so you'd better do the same.

Well, I think anytime we lose someone we have loved it feels like the greatest heartbreak of our lives...at the moment.  But I'd have to answer no if I put the question in a lifetime perspective.
I thought about this when considering your question; would I want any of those people back, now today?  And the answer came quickly...no, i wouldn't.
Love seems to speed the evolution of who I am and often I find that I outgrow a relationship before the other person.  Still, it's hard to lose the love.  But the intensity of the loss fades.
I guess if I ever lose someone, completely...and the sense of loss doesn't fade, then I would answer yes to your question.
Till then...

Once. I was suicidal for months. Literally.

The boyfriend I have now.. if I lost him it would absolutely floor me.. vulnerability in my opinion makes you stronger though.. I used to have walls around me that absolutely no one could get through and that just made me a weak person.. it's when you let people through that you're showing your strength.

Ditto that. Mine isn't a past tense though. it's such a shame that the guy you think you love is actually a real SOB and doesn't know the meaning of the word 'no'. Meh, anyway.

So yes, I have.

Ignore Christopher.  He doesn't know how big his heart is yet because he's not done exploring all of the channels of life.

I have experienced heavy emotional trauma.  Did my heart break?  It felt like it.  Had it broken in truth, I would not be here.

Symbolically, yes.  And I very well expect it to happen again.  Why?  Because I'm not done living.

Good question.  Some great responses.

Yes, of course I have.
Cried a whole lot...I'd say at least three different instances, maybe more that I've shut out.

Love stings sometimes....even if it's not quite love yet.
