This came to me as I was regaling this fine estasblishment with the fact that I have an Ash statuette from Army of Darkness that it would be cool to know just how many people like terrible movies. I have to ashamedly say that I have yet to see things as amazingly terrible and classic as Plan Nine From Outerspace, but that's only because it's always already been rented out by someone when I get to Casablanca, which is my rare/cult movie rental place. So, since there's is actually enough of an underground following of b movies in my city that it inconveniences my ability to watch them, I only have a very small amount to choose from... Alas! Woe is me! The Evil Dead trilogy rock my world, getting cornier and more out-there with every procession. The original Dracula, with the bats on strings, where you can see the strings! *squeal!* It's so CUTE! The Pit and the Pendulum. The one Vincent Price starred in. That had nothing, and I mean nothing, to do with Poe's story, except the title. The Masque of the Red Death, which is the same case as the last movie. Really not much to do with the Poe story, but it has Vincent Price! He be rockin' my world. The Fearless Vampire Killers or Pardon Me But Your Teeth Are in my Neck. I think that the second title says it all! 'Sides, anything that Jim Steinman could later turn into a hit German musical is good in my books. So yeh. My favorite b-movies of the so few I've seen. One day, I will raid Casablance, and they will have all those things which I seak! They will, I say, they will! Mwa ha ha ha ha ha!!! Um... Er... Yeh. written in blood before everything went black |

When making the Evil Dead trilogy, they failed MISERABLY in trying to make it a horror series---in fact, the thing that makes it a real B-Movie is the fact that when they tried to make horror...they made comedy. There were a few scenes in which it was psychotic---but other than that, it was funny! My other favourite B-Movies are "The Deep" and well---I don't really watch B-Movies to tell you the truth. But hey...Hehe Others are too in love with the sound of their own voice to speak the truth... |

Android - they weren't trying to make it a real horror movie - they were alternately making fun of horror movies while shooting a bald-faced, punny comedy. Evil Dead series is the best, bar none. Ash is my hero! |

Nice doll-needin' face, Sen. The Goonies! I realized while watching it on DVD with a friend how cornball the plot is, how lame the dialogue can get, and that Sloth is ridiculous. Doesn't matter -- I still have most of th' movie off by heart, and still feel little thrills of emotion when the kids' succeed. God, I'm a softy. She said burn ... together. |

Baby, I cannot tell you how often I've watched Labyrinth and cringed over something so stupid or so corny. But it's still my favorite movie of all time! 'Course, sorry to say, Labyrinth's actually got a lot more depth than Goonies... Before you feel offended, you hafta sit with me through the movie as I rant about all the hidden subplots and meanings and support it with a kazillion bits of evidence. Of course, Goonies is rockin'. Up there with Gremlins, for me. And y'know, there's a difference between b-movies and kiddy b-movies. 'Cause I think both Gremlins and Goonies are kiddy b-movies. written in blood before everything went black |

Jeez! Re-Animator! That movie creeped me out. And that reminds me of my horror movie period -- Dead Alive and Hellraiser and Nightmare on Elm Street and Night of the Living Dead and Night of the Creeps and The Mist and Creepshow and etc. etc. blah blah blah. Let's not go there. She said burn ... together. |

Can't forget "The Blob"! I'm still debating "Rocky Horror" - The production values were rather slick compared to the aforementioned "B-movies" and the campy script was written with tongue firmly planted in cheek. Definitely the biggest cult classic though! ("Let's do the time warp again!") Do the giant earthworm movies with Kevin Bacon count or are their special effects a little too well done to be called "B" grade? lol - Jeff [This message has been edited by rascalx (07-23-2002 08:17 PM).] |

Well, if Rocky Horror counts, ah've gotta jump back in with my vote on that one! It's too dear to my heart to really be all that B. But then again, any movie in the '70s with a major Meat Loaf appearance... 'Nuff said. And yeh, the whole Tim Curry in a corset thing is tres cool. written in blood before everything went black JCV [This message has been edited by Anvrill (07-23-2002 08:49 PM).] |

"waiter, there's a transvestite in my soup." "quiet, or everyone will want one." Oh, Rocky, how we love thee… ... and Evil Dead RULES! Army of Darkness is shelved right next to the new releases at our nearby Blockbuster, and every time another movie addict and I would go to get a movie, we'd point to Bruce Campbell and just giggle... no spoken words needed. p.s. has anyone ever seen the movie The Brain? omg, rotfl... Well, b-movies REQUIRE a sick sense of humor. That's why they're so cool. written in blood before everything went black |

Poet D -- that's exactly what Dead Alive is in America. "Mmm! Rich and creamy!" "Pah-tee's over!" "I kick (butt) for the Lord! What this scene needs is divine intervention!" "Yeee-ah, mental!" Don't get me started on that strange, strange movie. She said burn ... together. |
