Okay, here's the deal. Halloween is a huge holiday at my house. So I start planning early. Now normally, I do costume, and I have been dressing up as Tarot cards--from the major arcana (last year, I was the Heirophant) but...I wanna do something different! So...I thought I'd dress up as a catholic school girl, (I found this great uniform in a thrift store, and already bought some knee-high socks which I think will look great with stilettos) but my kids think that's dumb. (I figured I've seen enough schoolgirls dressed as witches, so why not?) So how about it? Any ideas? Do YOU costume for Halloween? Do TeLL. |

Oo! *waves hand in the air maniacally* You could go as a Superhero with a costume based upon mutant food products and thier ohsosoft texture!!!  ... if you have any questions ask Nicole, the other goddess ... someone else can take the insane ranting poet gig for a little while...  p.s. seriously? go as a wood sprite, or Carrie (blood tiara and all), the evil queen from "Snow White", or the strange black-winged, green-rune-tattooed thing I went as last year (as the girl at Target asked me, “Are you a bad angel?”… “Uh. I am not a pilsbury doughboy. I am the Spinach Queen - complete with tortilla cape (it is so soft, feel). It's a long story... At least Ms. Cor can pass as a tree sprite...some of us are just the tree. *snort* |

 My favourite time of the year too! I go all out if I got the time. One thing I use a lot in most of my costumes is light, either with electronics or batteries but the easiest way to create a light effect is to use “light sticks” and they work fantastic! One year I went to a party as a robot character something like the “Terminator” character. I used hockey equipment and painted it all silver and put “light sticks” behind any opening on the costume to light it up from the inside, carried a big futuristic gun also with lots of lights on it. I spent two months on making the costume and enjoyed every minute of the creation.  Last year I did a haunted house for a fundraiser event. It turned out to be a lot of work because I only had one week to start and finish and I did 95% of all the work. I started at 8:00am and went until 12:00 midnight every night until opening. Scary music, coloured lights, black lights, strobes, dry ice, duct tape, paint, lots of cardboard, a fog machine, a few good masks and a lot of creativity and POOFF!! You got a pretty fun haunted house for all the kids!  Tips for a haunted house or castle: -Make your tombstones out of Styrofoam and use black construction paper in a large rectangle shape to simulate a dug out grave, spread real leaves around for better effect. -Make castle walls and old house walls with cardboard and paint and it doesn’t have to look perfect because it will be dark or you may have coloured lights on in that area. -Black lights work great for all kinds of effects I recommend you get some. -Make cardboard tunnels but be sure to tape any sharp edges with duct tape. I knew I could count on you guys--so far tho, I am still partial to schoolgirl outfit...and yet..somehow the wicked queen from snow white appeals to me...me thinks I could dress the boyfriend up as the "mirror, mirror on the wall" and there is a friend of ours who would make a perfect snow white! (If ya believe that? wanna buy some twin spans?) OH...and Dunc...love the idea of the prozac...except that SOMEONE MIGHT EAT ME! (I have had a similar experience where I dressed as a psychotropic) e me for details.and NIC...lord, woman..you are braver than I...SPINACH? and not ONE "Pop-eye?" and with a wink to the Balladeer? ha ha, as i write in the middle of the night of course you can wEAR/WHERE the school girl out fit/costume, especially because your you freaking jugmental neighbor-hood could have an "issue" its fun ( if thats the deal) i say if you what too and it's going to make you feel good do it, your a mom your basically allowed to do what ever you want know matter what, it's simple we we rock if your a mom, forgetaboutit kindly, amelia redheart angrybraids i'm a freak mama and dress up just about every day in one way or another. I like the schoolgirl idea! But then again, I'm more obsessed with the look than my boytoy is, so I should be kinda worried for myself, here. Considering it's such a fetishy look! For Halloween, I'm gonna be one of my alter egos. Kim Kissably, front grrl of a six-piece punk band (I know how weird that sounds).Halloween is my obsession.
