Listening to the wind
I walked along the shore, alone
Pondering the question of why

Alone, yet in the company of many
I curse them for their presence,
and bless them for their inspiration

The quandary of the mad, the wisdom of
the lost.

I beseech of them to be wary, for we
carry within hell's spawn; Apoplexy

My mind rages from the tempest
it swirls from my consciousness,
the maelstrom of reality

They are the ill-begotten offspring of
pain, abuse, neglect and despair

I can stand it no longer. Spinning wildly
out of control, I fall to my knees in the sand

Holding my face in my hands, I weep. The tears
of the misbegotten
The wind called to me:
"Hush, my sweet child. Seek no longer for the
answers to the questions you will never find
Peer not into the darkness, you carry no lamp
Learn only of one thing, acceptance, for who you are
not what, that you are a part of the whole, not alone"

I walked along the shore, to glance this time
upon the waves

I watched as they crashed forward upon the sand
yet knew they returned unseen, beneath the waves
to the sea

I thought of the duality of reason, to comprehend
the seen and the obscure

To this, the others cried out
"This is madness! There can be no duality, only the chaos
that is we!"

Hush, my sweet children. It is time for you to ponder
Be quiet, if just for one day. Go softly into the night,
and dream.

Hush!

Still watching, still dreaming

This is beautiful, and I read it to a friend while on the phone. I really like it, and I have always loved the wind.

Hi,

Good poem - but I couldn't help but get the feeling (from the ending) that the person was either schizophrenic (hearing many voices) or had a dissociative disorder, and heard the voices of "his" other parts.
