(This post is especially for Grinch, who wanted to dig for more meaning.) she had once climbed these steps, ignoring the clanging, the stop signs, filled with false confidence. then she lay dormant, staring up toward the apex through clouds of self-doubt, till once again, she found the strength to continue, ignoring inner teachings, at times on her hands and knees, carefully weeding the credible from the adverse, those who would label her, or attempt to impede her journey; she stepped up through the fog, with conviction, as pieces of darkness fell away, sincerity and truth her companions, they followed her till the rays of sun fell upon her tired body, on the place where the four planes met; she had conceptualized it so very mistakenly; upon standing there, she saw, she felt, peace within herself, no longer wanted for what was not there, was not affected by negative opinions, a self-assuredness discovered; she knew she owned her own emotions, her own actions, that she was the only one in charge of her life; fulfilled, surrounded by those whom she loved, those who loved her for just who she was; she finally knew the genuine meaning of success, and wished all could see the view from the place where she stood, and where she yet stands. Stunning, a flow of fufillment, having reached that inner place, that radiates outwardly. a smooth deep write of meaning, more than just external? |

Thanks, art, for your very kind comments. The deeper meaning is in the formatting of the poem...what she was climbing and eventually found. Thanks again, Kris "It is wisdom to know others; |

I was never a big fan of concrete poetry – however this is my initial interpretation. A poet who climbed poetic steps to get to where ‘She’ is now. I’m probably wrong, for a very good reason. |

Yes, you are wrong, (for a very good reason ) ...there is a simple psychological theory behind this, and, if you were familiar with it, you would easily be able to identify it. Look in my poems in the first CA...way back to one called "Warnings?". This is the conclusion to that one, as I feel I have reached self-actualization. (Make sure you read the reply from jbouder.) Thanks for reading, and for giving your take on it, Kris "It is wisdom to know others; It is enlightenment to know one's self" - Lao Tzu [This message has been edited by warmhrt (08-27-2006 11:06 PM).] |

hi. warmhrt. This is a bit wordy, but nice and shapely, like a lot of women I know. I'd like to see the the other side of the pyramids, but not right now, my belly is full.. still digesting this. Well written. Thanks for the read. |

Thanks for the explanation Kris, I wouldn’t have got the meaning from the poem without it. On reflection that in itself could be a failing in the poem that could be addressed. I could of course have read the original and the replies but as a reader should I really need to? |

Grinch, I suppose you are right on...but I knew of no other way to truly express the place I have come to in my life. It seemed to fit the theory so well. I apologize for making you dig so deeply for the meaning behind this, but on the plus side...you learned something new! Kris "It is wisdom to know others; |
