I wrote this poem for an English assignment at school.. (The name 'Bridget' means strength.. )

Bridget

She sits cross legged,
Silent as a statue.
A soft stone face,
Calmer than a millpond.

Wind buffets her body,
And races through the grass.
Her hair twists and tangles.
She does not notice.

She’s cried all her tears,
But the pain is not gone,
Unlike the people,
Whom she thought were her friends.

They used her like a puppet,
Toying with her heart strings,
Then stamping out her smile.

She said she didn’t care,
That she didn’t really need them.
Although her heart was weeping,
From broken promises,
And trust betrayed.

And as they laughed at her and taunted,
She knew that it would pass...
She was Bridget,
And always would be.

This is a very touching poem, Yu Lan! Bridget happens to be one of my favorite names. It was also my great grandmother's name. I've always thought that it was a very beautiful name. I didn't know that it meant strength though. That makes me like it even more!

This is wonderful!  The entire poem left me speechless.. I hope to soon see more..

MAY THE ROAD RISE TO MEET YOU,
MAY THE WIND BE ALWAYS AT YOUR BACK
MAY THE SUN SHINE UPON YOUR FACE
THE RAINS FALL SOFT UPON YOUR FIELDS
AND, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN,
MAY GOD HOLD YOU IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND

Hi Lynne,
Lovely poem, but you're the real Bridget (strength), aren't you?
