three line messages of salvation and redemption hastily etched into bathroom stalls followed by the systematic responses of years of conditioning and rhetoric and what is all of this? what is the point of it all? and the spirit dies along with the heart numbed by the narcotic products of endless speculation and prayers and Hope for some new-found heaven... or hell. and what is all of this? what is the point of it all? throw my body in the streets with the rest where the sweet tang of death ever floats another death another corpse piling against the curb, more for the work of the undertaker of tomorrow... and what is all of this? what is the point of it all? |

rich-pa, Wow, very good, but I'm not quite sure how to respond to this one. Not much makes me speechless!! It held me, but made me wonder too, what is the point to these things? A little morbid, don't you think? But it's ok because you're expressing your feelings, and that's never wrong. Hope, Alicia A. Renzelman |

What's the point of it all ? I don't know. Maybe we stopped caring somewhere along th line. High time we reach out again for all the poor lonely souls out there. Thanks for sharing this rich-pa. |

Welcome back Rich-pa! Very interesting poem. I'm sure most of us have asked these same questions from time to time. Denise |

thanks for the replies and yeah i know the poem is a little morbid but that's ok. and in case you're looking for the stanza's to be connected in some way, they really aren't. rich-pa "freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose..." -janis joplin |

I like the writing style of this rich-pa. As I read, the picture of religious cults came to mind. The last verse also made me think of underdeveloped countries or a country at war. Off base I'm sure. Morbid? Yes, but life has it's morbid aspects and writing about life is what a poet does. < !signature--> ...Give me the strength to walk the soft earth, a relative to all that is....
