If it were in my power to create
An invention
That would help mankind
I would create
The Mirror Clock

This clock would work miracles
One at a time
For all who looked into it
At any given time

This clock would help us all
From making foolish mistakes
For when we looked into
It's mirror like face
It would show the future results
Of our ill chosen choices

When parents or teachers
Or other concerned ones would say
Please don't do that
It will harm you someway
We could look in the mirror clock
And then we would see a reflection
Of what our future would be

For instance
When parents, doctors and others
Warned us not to smoke
We could look in the mirror
And see a person, old before their time
Using inhalers in order to breath
Just barely able to walk across
Their living room floor

So many things this mirror might show
The results of unwise decisions
Those that may have never crossed their mind
But of course maybe this mirror clock
Really isn't needed, if only we would
Look around at the many examples
Of those all around who
Indulged in the vices
And are now living or dying
Examples of unhealthy living

Yes a mirror clock would be nice, but even then not everyone would listen.  It won't happen to me. We all have illusions of immortality.  Joyce   Joyce

This would be a wonderful invention and think how much heartache it would save so many people.  Good treatment of this subject.

This is an interesting and thought-provoking idea. It sounds like a life-saver, but perhaps it would need to show alternate realities? For instance, if I had looked into such a clock and seen the heartbreak I would experience, I might not have married my ex-husband, but then I would not have my three children and my grandchild. Sometimes what seems like a bad consequence actually has some good mixed with it. Still, I have often wished for such an invention. Thanks for making me think today.

Love your ingenuity, Songbird!
It made me think of the 'alternate universe' theory - looking in the mirror could show one universe...
Cool idea!
