Fire Dance Firey incandescent dance Chanting and folklore People gyrating around the fire Dream of days before Dressed in leather buckskin Feathers in their hair Just a hint of mystery Is floating on the air They talk of the hunt And glory of the fight The air is crisp with Their apparent delight They talk in moons and buffalo And things that are no more Because not to speak of it Would be to close the door On ancestors and rituals That make them who they are So they keep chanting And dancing underneath the Stars Mystical being which makes ink flow Surround me in your incandescent glow Fill my brain with thoughts and rhyme As I try to capture but a moment in time ~Shan~ |

You painted such a wonderful scene. Great Poem indeed! The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, not the kindly smile, not the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone believes in him and is willing to trust him with his friendship." --Ralph Waldo Emerson |

I was pretty sure that was what this poem was about. You speak their story well. Traditions, and a way of life, hopefuly will never die if they are still talked about! Joy |
