Introverted fool always looking back within; searching for a reason why I cannot win. It must be something's wrong with me. Why is it that I cannot see. For all the world out there need know; I'll pack my bag and then I'll go. I am no good nor ever will be. Why are those people watching me? The truth won't dawn for those in flight; just drop the bags reach for the light. Let people take me as I am now. Throw off the past and take a bow. I'm setting sail on course so true. Could use a little help from you. What you see is what you get. The past is done, no more regrets The years I spent doing things wrong I must remember, they are gone. The folks I meet as I circulate I know full well , will appreciate. The character to which I now aspire. The extrovert that just caught fire. So what you see is what you get; I,m not done with this life just yet. |

This is a great turnaround. Let go of the negativity and move forward in a positive direction. Sounds like you've found your self worth which is a very good thing. This is written so well and reminds me of me. Sheila ...the earth and myself are of one mind. The measure of the land and the measure of our bodies are the same........... Joseph, Nez Perce Chief |

Excellent Twins. Being true to ourselves is very important. The person you've written about has come to that relization. "So what you see is what you get; I'm not done with this life yet." Excellent statement! Excellent Attitude!! Very well written and expressed. ...Give me the strength to walk the soft earth, a relative to all that is.... Black Eagle Oglala Sioux holy man |

twinsgd--This is an excellent poem--wonderfully written. Amazing isn't it, how events in our lives can inspire us to greatness in our creativity? This poem sounds like it was written for/about someone else--just has that kind of a ring to it. Could I be correct? "Unto thine own self be true, and it must follow as the night, the day; thou cans't not be false to any man."---Shakespeare |

To all of you wonderful people who responded, my sincerest thanks and a confession. This is not of my experience but rather of my observations , and I penned it in the hope that a dear dear friend, or any one else, might see a tiny bit of light through the gloom. I profusely apologize for the deception and beg forgiveness herewith. Kim..as you said when writing "Working Class Joe"......sometimes you just gotta write. Freckles ....Ah yes you know me well, nobody more amazed than me Freckles. PdV, Jon, Sheila, Lizzie , John, ....thank you for the kind remarks and reading. Gene, Denise......I like all kinds but not too much mystery.......after all I'm just a working class Joe. |
