Twas wondrous day the first of May. Trout fishing starts today. I load my gear into the car, And I am on my way I drive up North the beaver dam is where I want to be. I find my favorite fishing hole, and soon then we shall see. With waders on and all that gear It's very plain to tell. I will these fish outsmart today. Ah yes I know them well. I wade out through the swamp and trees. The water's getting deep. I cast my line, and then I wait. I almost fall asleep. There's peace and quiet, the songs of birds A tranquill scene so pure. The fish don't bite, but I don't care I think I'll change my lure. But then comes a bloodcurdling roar A bear is right behind. I step ahead I sink real fast Bear's teeth I hear them grind. I surface and I gasp for air The beaver's biting me. I swim so slowly for the bank I now can hardly see. The beaver splashing in my face was acting like a clown. The fish were jumping over me I must get out of here or drown.. The bear was sitting in my pond now I was seeing red. I gathered up my wits and thought I will see that bear dead. I'd blow those fish and bear sky high the beaver and his dam. Inside my trunk the dynamite I'll show them who I am. I tried to light the dynamite. My matches were all wet. I threw it back into the trunk The explosion, I'm still deaf yet. My car was blown right out of sight, and then came back again. It fell right back into the pond just like the falling rain. While hitching a ride home that day I then devised a plan. My car was stolen a thief's out there Please catch him if you can. I'll tell them how I took a blow my head how it does ring my car and all my gear is gone and I bearly remember a thing. [This message has been edited by twinsgd (edited 03-19-2000).] |

Twins this is sooooooo funny! Gives a new meaning to "tall fish tale"!! I love to fish but I have two problems....... I can't put the bait on the hook and I can't take the fish off!!! Oh yeah - one other thing ----- the fish has to be thrown back!!! |

twinsgd--Remind me never to trade fish stories with you (I think you've got me beat)!! I really enjoyed this; a delightful piece wonderfully written. Now, as for you childomine, I can see I need to take you fishing.....lol. "Unto thine own self be true, and it must follow as the night, the day; thou cans't not be false to any man."---Shakespeare |
