Barber's chair, with faded leather, Cast aside, sits in all weather, Out behind its owner's shop. One leg bent and arms a-lop. Then I recall when it was new And when the barber's shop was too. Sometime, every male in town, Budding boy; man of renown, Sat within it's warm embraces, Watched the barber through his paces. Told their secrets. Asked advice. Came out looking trim and nice. So I've asked and just been granted Leave to take it and I've panted, As I dragged it to our barn. Plied my needle, seat to darn And now my children's dreams compete, To use this chair thought obsolete! This is cute. So many things need to be renovated and put to a new use. Joyce |
