One of the big problems of growing old, Is all the things you have never been told. No one has tried to prepare you for it, You just have to try it on and hope it fits. As for me, although I'll soon be seventy two, I see very little difference in me and you. You may get in your car and drive off to work, But all around my house chores seem to lurk. Now this retirement stuff, hey, it's pretty good, I would have done it sooner if only I could. But I doubt if it would have felt the same if I had, I did it when I was 59, and that wasn't half bad. One thing I have noticed, kids drive a lot faster, Makes a fellow wonder just what they are after. Steps are being built a lot steeper, signs harder to see, "What did you say dear, you talking to me"? That woman is losing her voice, talks in a whisper, I guess I will have to pay closer attention to her. Another thing, food isn't as tasty as it used to be, Seems like things are going to pot, could it be me? Not likely, I don't act a bit different than I did at fifty, Even my wife says, in a suit I still look pretty nifty. "I am going to get the mail dear, it should be here by now". "What do you mean it's Sunday, dad gum it anyhow". Now let's see, where did I put that book I was reading? And where's my glasses? I guess that's all I'll be needing. Better get my beer before I settle in, maybe I'll get two, Not much I can think of right now that I'd rather do. |

Its pretty good though. You only have to hear what you want to hear, see what you want to see and do what you want to do. What we work all of our lives for. Joyce |

I think you're doing pretty good. There are three things that indicate you are getting old. The first one is, you stop remembering things. Uhhh. I can't remember the other two. Good one. Melton |

What about walking into a room to get something and totally forgetting what it was? Maybe it's just me? Betty Lou Hebert |

Thanks folks, there are a few perks to getting old, but I can't remember what they are. I once told a young fellow i was coaching in baseball that the cold beer we were having on a hot day in Palm Springs Ca. in August, was better than sex, and he would only realize that when he got to my age bracket. |
