We’ve not spoken for days now Do you miss me? Do you care? Was this a momentary feeling Because for the moment I was there? Do you remember what you promised The pledge you swore on your heart Will this painful love affair Be over before it can start? You promised you would be there I thought you meant it for me But now I realize you meant You wanted us both to be free The words you said were not The words I chose to hear I’m sorry, it’s my mistake I’ve bumbled this I fear Forget I ever told you that You were the man of my dreams For I was just a passing light A momentary flicker it seems I’ll smile the next time we meet And nod as if to say You’re forgiven for taking my heart And throwing it away. |
