There once was a poet,
who had no idea at all,
that inside was a very great,
and worthy person of words.

For the poet was filled,
from top to bottom with fear.

of course we all know
there is nothing to fear,
but fear itself.

But the poet was clueless!

One day the poet ventured out,
to sit on the stone porch,
(never daring to venture further).

A very large and slimy earthworm,
appeared on the patio at that moment,
and immediately began to wiggle,
turning this way and that way.
Then the worm became very still,
right in mid squiggle!

The poet stared dumbfounded,
could it be a letter "Y"?
For the worm had shaped himself
in the formation of a perfect "Y"!

The poet became mesmerized,
for next the worm squiggled
right into a perfect "O"!

Grabbing pencil and paper,
the poet began to write down
this fantastic message of the worm.
"Y" and "O", and next came "U",
until the final message...

"YOU MUST WRITE HAIKU"!

The poet dashed into the house,
grabbed the dictionary,
and looked up the word "Haiku".

not realizing at this point,
that all fear had fled!

Everday, for one week,
the worm performed
this incredible feat of words.

And everyday, the poets confidence
GREW!
Finally this is what the poet wrote...

The worm has spoken
a great and wonderful truth
I am a poet!

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

This is cute and fun.
So many poems to write.
My worm came so late.

I liked your little parable.

Miss Ellie, you are indeed a poet. That is the truth, and it is not terrible at all! Your poetry is great! Keep writing!  hugs

nicely done Ellie..yes indeed, your "Worm" has served you well.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost
