Could Be Anywhere...

JOY

A laugh; big, booming belly
deep, resonate baritone
its the sound of life.

Sharp, tickle laugh
perhaps more a shriek
breathless, she taunts.

Giving of self
light for light
win to win.

Joy misplaced
dark in dark
lost, oh so lost.

Reality is layered
like acid yesterdays
mirth very fleeting.

Rely on memories
to prove the humor
fiercely remembered.

Outstretched hands
demanding recognition
can not say the words.

Lips move silently
from safe distance
silently screaming.

Asking if madness
same silly question
answer known.

Asking anyway
seeking confirmation
im ok, youre ok!

What i would pay for a simple, ordinary moment
of happiness. A simple deep, belly laugh
escaping with glee, mixed with joy!
To be released from this silent prison
of self, wrapped so tight and secure...
released; nay fully expelled, involuntarily
just for the pure pleasure of it all.

Yes a life without a good laugh now and then is greatly diminished.  Laughter is also a key to good health. Wish I knew a good joke.  Joyce

"He laughs best who laughs last."
I hope you'll have it.
Thanks.

You had me going....i thought this was a happy poem, i could hear the laughter of that one person who's laughter lights the world....and then you grew equally sad...and i could feel the silence and pressure. I liked this alot.

You can make something like laughter that we take for granted into something so powerful. Great work.
