Kisses are the theme of poets; Writ to pull on the heart strings, Full of honey and pulsation, But a kiss is many things. Is this kiss a mere experiment? Is it only a beginning; A touching of two pairs of lips, With hardly any meaning? A lover's kiss is passionate. A betrayer's has finesse; And how to tell the difference Is anybody's guess. The kiss that long will linger, And will stay with her for life, Comes from he with no tomorrow, A last kiss for his wife. She's forgotten all the kisses Bestowed by callow beaux. Remembering this last sweet kiss; Outliving all of those. By Joyce 2000 |

Wow, Joyce! I was smiling about the different kinds of kisses, and then got to the end. What an impact! Very nice writing! To love another person is to see the face of God. |

Some kisses stay in your mind more than others ![]() Don't ever give in, if you do you've lost everything you've ever had and everything you hope to gain, but if you carry on your already winning. |

Very nicely done. I like the steady transition. My wife says that our wedding kiss is "The Kiss". For me, I tend to agree. I bow to you and yours with thanks for sharing. Peace! |

Joyce, A very lovely sentiment. I detect a bit of sadness, and yet, the sweet KISS that will last forever. Melton |

A kiss, even in death, carries a message of hope. I like this very much. Thanks. "The poet is the priest of the invisible." |

Brings back many memories of many kinds of kisses. Makes me want to write a poem about some of them. Maybe we should have a kiss and tell challenge! LOL [This message has been edited by Songbird (edited 03-29-2001).] |

A betrayer's has finesse -- I think this could not be put any better. And i have a last kiss of sorts that lingers, but i had not thought of it in a while. Sweet and sad, even at time. I am LOVING your poetry if you couldn't tell. One's not half two it's two are halves of one EE Cummings |

I went off to work one morning, kissing my husband goodbye as usual. I had a call telling me that I would never see him again. Massive heart attack at 41. Many years ago, but that is a kiss you don't forget. Thanks everyone for noticing and answering. Joyce |
