We all have longings that permeate our minds,
Call them fantasies, call them dreams, they are there;
Scenes played out in imagination  many times o'er,
Taking us away from the realities we're called on to bear.

I, in my longings, walk along the ocean's edge,
The cool spray falling on my uplifted face;
My footprints disappear just as quickly as my dreams,
Washing away..I watch them vanish without a trace.

I feel the foam swirling 'round my ankles, now
Becoming entangled in seaweed..it quickly withdraws;
The ocean smell invades my nostrils, as my breathing
Becomes deeper..my inner being soothed by its laws.

No other place on earth, in my mind, would suffice
Than where God's great power is so evidently seen;
The mighty ocean beckons to me, time after time
Returning..my mind becomes renewed once again.

All dreams must end, my longings I lock away in my heart,
Until the next time I allow them to have full rein;
When life becomes stale and I need to be refreshed,
I will escape to my ocean..and my dreams once again.

Yep we all have dreams and love this

Don't ever give in, if you do you've lost everything you've ever had and everything you hope to gain, but if you carry on your already winning.

Twilah; This is so beautiful and I feel as if you have just echoed my innermost thoughts! I too feel closest to God by the sea and sometimes it is His gift to give us wild imaginary dreams to ease the pain. Love, Ellie

Moondust, thank you for your comment...I am a dreamer at heart, I think......

Ellie...I have written most of my poetry by the water....be it the ocean or just a quiet lake. God knows me so well...and I do feel his presence so much more at times like that. I am glad that this poem touched you...you seem like such a special lady.....Thanks for your comment....Twilah (Gloria)

twilah:

This poem is lovely and very life-like. I to have a love for the ocean and for God for that matter. It helps me relax when I go to the beach. I'm glad you get inspiration there. This poem shows that you do. Keep up the great work!

I could actually feel my feet being hit by the water.  I'm amazed by yur style.  This is really good.  I hope to see more of your work.

There is such therapy in many ways, being near the ocean and able to walk along it's shore.  I try to spend some time every year on the Oregon Coast.  I know your oocean must be equally beautiful.

I have not spent a great deal of time near large shores, but they always make me feel at home, close to life. Such has been in the fore of my thoughts lately. This was a perfect read at the perfect time.
