The price of beauty
is hard to name
for it changes
tis said
with notoriety
and fame
some say
" Eye of the Beholder"
and while that
is true in part
there are some things
pure ugly
the most will call it
"ART "
" Beauty is found within"
say others
yet still
they cannot say
what be the price
of beauty fine
no matter where
its source may be
I've seen enough
of beauty rare
of beauty simple
too and fair
in birds and trees
rocks and flowers
in precise ticktock
of the hours
but the price of Beauty
one can know
one simply has to ask
the Rose
for once like others
once was she
a simple flower
like clover seen
a rose you could
find anywhere
in forest dark
and mountain bare
but to have 'beauty'
a deal she made
and oh the sad
deep price she paid
for her beauty
lay trapped in thornes
alone ...remote
not like before
and though of her beauty
are sonnets made
she rues the day
and price she paid
for once she boldly
faced the Frost
and through the Winter
was not lost
she ruled year round
like Evergreen
sweet small crowns
of many queens
but now her petals
fall like rain
though hallowed is
her oft sung name
and up she'd give
her sweet perfume
to turn back ever
her blackthorned doom
the price of Beauty
I suppose
is greater still
than anyone can know

(( and here's a bit
of wisdom more
for those of you
sad ends abhor
beauty cannot
be bought in store
despite the price
on showroom floor
true beauty is a
state of heart
free of charge
so it will not part
so seek out now
the beauty YOU
and then let others
see it too ))

Wow! Into the library this goes. Very well expressed, I really like this, you've added a uniqueness to an often over-used metaphor, and you make the reader think!

Take care,
Melissa~

Astonishing...I thought you already blew me away with your other work but this one is another that makes you go 'hmmmmm'! What can I say Sol...you bring a lot of truth and time spent pondering to teach us all that beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Loved it...into my library it shall go!!!!!!! hehehe

ah one of the most important lessons in life, expressed so well, gonna put this in the library too

Don't ever give in, if you do you've lost everything you've ever had and everything you hope to gain, but if you carry on your already winning.

Very beautiful...Once again your words have made a smile appear on my face. Thankyou.

Your time is here. Take one last look at it, then never come back. This part of your life is already over...

I think this is one of the best poems I have ever read, so much thought you send with this one, and yet it is so precious in it's meaning.

Nicely done here Son.
Truth be told within this poem of yours.
Bravo!
