Neighborhood Dogs

at sirens sounding,
dogs in our neighborhood howl;
they’re asking, “what’s up?”

Orphan Cat

our cat’s an orphan;
she thinks that she’s one of us,
but she “purrs” alone.

these are a couple of enchanting haiku's! I have two cats and they sure can get into trouble!

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

Oh, how sad, she purrs alone? Too, too sad.

Yet, if she purrs, is she not content?

This is cute Bob. I haven't seen a dog yet that did not howl with a siren. Strange creatures they are!
hopefully your cat assumes you purr too. They think they own the joint ya know, lol.
Love this cute poem.

Nice haiku, Bob. I especially like the irony in the line "Our cat's an orphan". They kind of make you wonder who owns whom, don't they?

Bonnie,

Funny how much our neigborhoods are the same...

Ellie,

Yes, our cat is very protective of her territory and gets in trouble as well.

VAS

Yes, our cat is very content on being left alone. She's independent that way.

Blooming Rose,

Yep, dogs are strange like that.... and I tried, but I think cats got some special thing.

Dopey Dope,

Cats are cleaner but they don't act like they're running when you rub their bellies.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Bob <><
