(I had such fun with this - in fact the most fun I've ever had with a poem!)

Celebrating Patterns!

Patterns congregate around us,
sleep within us and astound us -
large as life or insignificantly small.
Patterns darting through the heavens,
moleculing through the oceans,
painting pitter-patter flecks upon our wall.

Patterns dripping, patterns flowing,
some with tentative tip-toeing
through reflections of a modernistic style.
Patterns pensive, others bouncing,
with a saucy trim of flounce in
every marching meter's regimented mile.

Patterns begging, patterns gloating,
some with triple-layered coatings -
ostentation hiding superficial pride.
Patterns planned or tossed at random
with their dignity abandoned
and the weight of inhibitions kicked aside.

Patterns boldly over-rated,
others deftly understated,
patterns twisted into convoluted lines.
Patterns patented and stolen,
some disguised and never known.
Patterns rolling off the edges of our minds....

patterns bold before my eyes
patterns devious with lies
patterns soft as kitten's hair
patterns that aren't really there

drifting shifting patterns cool
patterns that I learned in school
patterns patterns everywhere
even patterns in my hair

see what you started?
this is another of your wonderful talented concoctions..I really admire your style.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Pegasus, Yo!
Oh no, look what you did..."patterns in my hair...."

Patterns falling out and flaking,
when you're sleeping or awaking,
patterns rumpled in the pillow on your bed.
Patterns dusting morning windows
so you cannot see the light, though
you can pinch yourself and know that you're not dead.

Yep, this is fun!

LOL

Patterns in the Pub
Bounce through my mind late at night
Making my head spin.

It's too late at night/early in the morning to respond in kind, but enjoyed this.

patterns in the daylight breaking
patterns in the bread that's baking
on weavers loom the patterns come to life

patterns in the rocker rocking
subtle patterns interlocking
patterns in two boxers dance of strife

lovely patterns in a cloud
patterns in a field that's plowed
patterns in the way you kiss your wife

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Good grief, girl you put be in a silly mood, and so from my pen I'm whirling

Rotating patterns
Make me dizzy
Colliding patterns
Create kinematic
Kaleidoscopes
That could hurl
Me past the gravitational pull
Sending me further
Than man or woman
Ever dared to go!

Never thought of patterns in the ways you've described.
My fav. lines..

"Patterns darting through the heavens,
moleculing through the oceans,
painting pitter-patter flecks upon our wall."

"pitter-patter flecks"...I just love that!
