If Only One Day Remained... |

Suppose you were told only one day remains: the straws have been drawn - fate's calling your name.... Whose touch would you long for, whose face would you hold? What door would you open, what beauty enfold? What echoes would color the fade of your hours? What deeds would embellish the ebb of your powers? The noise and the silence would meld into one; you'd yearn to reverse the diminishing sun. You'd strip all deceptions, all semblance of pride, your soul would be naked with nothing to hide. The book of your past you would take from the shelf, you'd ponder the worth you had left of yourself. Regrets would assail you - the chances you missed. You'd pack sheer delights in the folds of love's kiss. You'd wish you had counted each step of the way; you'd cry for the words that you never will say. You'd hear all the music, forgive all the pain. If you had been told only one day remained.... |

I had to give this a bump because it really affected me. It says so many things...but mostly that we should savour every day as if it were or last.....then we would have no regrets.....again, a wonderful Job! Best |

Wow, this was so amazing. I loved every word of it. One of the few poems that caught my breath......beautifully written! I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. I'm in love with my shadow I admire it daily |

You'd hear all the music, forgive all the pain. If you had been told only one day remained.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yes, if we knew the time, we would take a second look at what is real and what will remain. Really good poem. Deb |
