"Wet Footprints in the Sand" On distant, misty, Memory Shoals, This night, I took a stroll, And noticed something in the sand. As the waves rolled gently onto land, And the moon settled into the sea, Wet footprints melted in the sand, Walking softly away from me. Come back, come back, I beckon thee. Arise from the sea, And return to me. With each and every wave that laps the shore, My misty memories fade a little more. And, wet footprints in the sand would not withstand, If not for, memories kept close at hand. So, I tried with one last desperate plea, To resurrect the thing that had a hold on me. Come back, come back, I beckon thee. Arise from the sea, And return to me. But with each abiding wave, A little of my self, I gave, As I feared my hopes would be lost at sea Forever, and all eternity. ------------------------------ I'm back from the sea. Please, no more replies to my previous post. I'm sorry I posted it. ~Gene [This message has been edited by u_gene (edited 03-04-2000).] |

Well you peaked my curiosty and - yes - I read the dreaded last post. Ok - as for this one - for me it was hauntingly beautiful. I was left with a tender feeling of saddness. |

Come back, come back, "I beckon thee. Arise from the sea, And return to me. But with each abiding wave, A little of my self, I gave, As I feared my hopes would be lost at sea Forever, and all eternity." Wonderful!! (Kim begins to scout around for more of Gene's writing in the Forum) |

Thanks Everyone, you're all very kind. I'm glad to be back. I'm amazed at how much new talent has come to the Pub since I've been away. It's amazing what location (moving the Pub up the street) will do. ~Gene |
